We are currently looking for an engineer to join us for the following projects:

Active Captain is our companion app designed to enhance the boating experience with key features like navigation and boat control.

Striker Cast is a GPS sonar, an easy to read device which can help the users find fish, because it shows exactly where they are.

You can find navigation and sonar technology with an intuitive interface that combines advanced technology and connectivity to meet the needs of any captain or angler.

We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require full-time presence at our office.

Responsibilities:

  • Review complex tasks for soundness of technical judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.
  • Demonstrate proficient use and knowledge of established standards and procedures.
  • Improve existing software with limited assistance from other associates.
  • Effectively manage tasks and priorities for overlapping projects and meet deadlines in a consistent, complete, and accurate manner.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally in a team environment with other Garmin associates to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrate effective discretion, judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Communicate status of work clearly providing visibility to supervisor.
  • Act as a Feature Owner for Marine initiatives that involve the apps.
  • Develop/maintain Mobile Core components.
  • Design and develop new modules in the Marine ecosystem.

Requirements
  • Good knowledge of C++ (C++11, C++14, C++17).
  • Good knowledge of OOP & Design.
  • Knowledge of basic system architectures.
  • Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques.
  • Shows ability to use appropriate tools for solving the job at hand.
  • Ability to find technical root cause and corrective action for given problems.
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
  • BSc in Computer Science, IT or similar.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience.

Would be a plus:

  • Mobile development experience (Kotlin, Swift).
  • Knowledge of Java, JNI, and Objective C.
