Role Overview:

Zeeco is looking for an experienced Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join its Global Flares Engineering team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging flare systems for clients across the globe, while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams located in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering complete Instrumentation & Control detail engineering packages, supporting proposal activities, coordinating with global teams, consultants and EPC contractors, and managing instrumentation procurement activities from specification through vendor selection.

The role demands strong expertise in instrumentation design, detailed engineering, vendor management, and project execution within the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, LNG, or related industries.

Key Responsibilities:

    Instrumentation Detail Engineering:
    • Prepare and review P&IDs for flare systems with minimal errors and timely delivery.
    • Develop complete Instrumentation & Control engineering deliverables for domestic and international projects.

      • Cause & Effect Matrix
      • Control Philosophy
      • Functional Design Specifications (FDS)
      • Material Requisitions (MR)
      • Bill of Materials (BOM)
      • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with client specifications, international standards and project requirements.

Instrumentation Specification & Design:

  • Specify field instrumentation including:
    • Pressure Instruments
    • Temperature Instruments
    • Flow Instruments
    • Level Instruments
    • Control Valves
    • On-Off Valves
    • Pressure Safety Devices
    • Flame Detection Systems
    • Ignition Systems
    • Gas Detection Systems
    • Prepare detailed instrument datasheets and technical specifications.
    • Select suitable instruments considering process requirements, hazardous area classification, operating conditions and applicable international standards.

Panel & Electrical Interface Engineering:

  • Prepare specifications for:
    • Control Panels
    • PLC Panels
    • Marshalling Panels
    • Local Control Panels (LCP)
    • Junction Boxes (JBs)
    • Field Terminal Boxes
    • Coordinate panel architecture, wiring philosophy and instrument interface requirements.
    • Review vendor drawings, GA drawings, wiring diagrams and internal layouts.

Procurement & Vendor Coordination:

  • Prepare procurement plans, BOMs and purchase requisitions.
  • Float RFQs to instrumentation and electrical sub-vendors.
  • Prepare technical bid evaluations and techno-commercial comparisons.
  • Evaluate vendor offers and recommend technically compliant solutions.
  • Clarify technical queries with vendors during bid and execution stages.
  • Maintain commercial databases including vendor price lists and approved vendor information.
  • Coordinate vendor document review and approval process.

Proposal & Tender Support:

  • Prepare Instrumentation & Electrical estimates during proposal and tender stages.
  • Review tender documents and customer specifications.
  • Raise technical tender queries and RFIs with clients where required.
  • Support the Sales and Proposal teams by providing technical clarifications and engineering inputs.

Project Execution and Process Safety:

  • Coordinate with Mechanical, Process, Electrical and Project Engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Participate in engineering review meetings with customers, consultants, EPC contractors and global engineering teams.
  • Resolve engineering issues and vendor-related technical queries throughout project execution.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables are completed within budgeted hours while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Participate in HAZOP studies.
  • Participate in SIL studies and functional safety reviews.
  • Support implementation of process safety requirements within instrumentation design.

Qualifications and Required Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5–10 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control Engineering.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, LNG, Chemical, EPC or related process industries is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation detail engineering.
  • Experience in preparing Instrument Datasheets and Instrument Specifications.
  • Experience specifying field instruments for hazardous process plants.
  • Strong understanding of P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams.
  • Experience preparing complete instrumentation engineering deliverables.
  • Knowledge of junction box design, panel engineering and field wiring philosophy.
  • Experience with cable sizing, cable schedules and interconnection drawings.
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classification and applicable instrumentation standards.
  • Experience with procurement engineering and vendor management.
  • Strong experience in technical bid evaluation and techno-commercial comparisons.
  • Experience floating RFQs and coordinating with instrumentation vendors and package suppliers.
  • Familiarity with HAZOP and SIL studies.
  • Good understanding of ISA, IEC and relevant international instrumentation standards.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of experience in Instrumentation & Control Engineering
  • Experience in Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, LNG, Chemical or EPC projects
  • Strong knowledge of instrumentation detail engineering and preparing instrument datasheets/specifications
  • Experience specifying field instruments for hazardous process plants and hazardous area classification
  • Strong understanding of P&IDs and Process Flow Diagrams
  • Experience preparing complete instrumentation deliverables (I/O lists, loop drawings, cable schedules, BOMs, hook-ups)
  • Knowledge of junction box design, panel engineering, marshalling and field wiring philosophy
  • Experience with cable sizing, interconnection drawings and instrument location layouts
  • Experience in procurement engineering, RFQs, vendor evaluation and vendor coordination
  • Familiarity with HAZOP and SIL studies and functional safety reviews
