Responsibilities

Position Description

  • Serve as the point of contact for C&B-related issues in Japan and act as a credible internal specialist.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the Head of local HR, and HR Partners, to resolve compensation and benefits-related issues.
  • Assist APAC C&B COE / Japan HRs in rolling out C&B projects such as annual performance appraisal cycles, implementation of new programs, and compliance with Japanese regulations.
  • Support annual salary/budget planning and market analysis for Japan; submit salary survey data, analyze positions versus market, and formulate recommendations based on Japanese benchmarks.
  • Conduct benefits market analysis, implement new or revise existing benefit programs (e.g., health insurance, pension, welfare benefits) to improve competitiveness, and prepare communication for Japanese employees.
  • Build consistency in C&B policies, plans, and programs in Japan, referencing both company reward strategy and Japanese labor legislation.

Data Management

  • Manage and ensure accuracy of benefits overviews and information available on the company intranet, tailored for Japanese employees.
  • Participate in the deployment and implementation of new C&B tools in Japan. 
  • Work closely with local C&B vendors in Japan such as insurers, brokers, and consulting firms.
  • Track, review, and support administration including invoice control of benefits, insurance affiliation and termination for new hires and leavers, renewal of insurance policies, etc., in accordance with Japanese practices.
  • Continuously seek improvements in data flows and automation opportunities in HR processes, considering Japanese regulatory requirements.
  • Stay updated on changes in Japanese legislation and taxation impacting compensation and benefits practices.
Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree and 3–5 years of relevant experience in a Japanese or international reward environment.
  • Experience conducting benchmarks and communicating outcomes to business and HR business partners.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel and a passion for analyzing large data sets with attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate independently and take ownership for your area of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of Japanese labor legislation and compensation practices.
  • Good knowledge of English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
  • Experience working in an international environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated logical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to systematically analyze complex data and situations to draw reasonable conclusions.
  • Open and innovative mindset with an interest in working in a technical and engineering-driven environment.
