As a Buyer at Markforged, you will be responsible for procuring material for manufacturing, production support, and engineering projects. You will work with suppliers to ensure timely availability of key production material at the right cost and quality. As a Buyer on our team, you will be given the challenge of procuring material for internal and external manufacturing, production support, and engineering development projects that makes production of Markforged’s products possible.  You will work with suppliers on critical supply situations to resolve time-sensitive needs for material. You’ll also work closely with our production and manufacturing operations to ensure availability of key production material at the right cost, quality and cost.

What will you own?

  • Plan, schedule, release and manage purchase, interplant orders and work orders as required
  • Formulate Requests for Proposals / Request for Quotes based on Center of Excellence Requirements
  • Source selection and award of direct or indirect material purchase orders for assigned products
  • Perform cost/price analysis for competitive and non-competitive procurements
  • Develop and executes strategies for negotiation of purchase order terms: price, delivery, expedites, terminations, etc.
  • Work with internal and external suppliers to resolve material issues (shortages, emergency customer demands, etc.)
  • Develop and maintains communication channels between various departments to maintain the flow of materials to support the customer
  • Review, communicates and acts upon anticipated delays
  • Review anticipated shortage reports for future demands
  • Actively look for improvements in the planning/ scheduling process
  • Participate in capacity review meetings with internal and external suppliers
  • Actively work on reducing inventory/lead times

What you have:

  • University degree (preferred in technical field)
  • 2+ years of work experience in material planning (purchasing) in manufacturing environment with high mix low volume material structure
  • Solid knowledge of lot sizing, material planning and production scheduling
  • Solid knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Analytical skills
  • Industry experience with a global manufacturer a plus
  • Fluent English minimum Level C2
  • Technical aptitude for problem solving and issue resolution
  • Hybrid working with 3 days from our office in Krakow.
