About the Role
This position will support the Purchasing Commodity and Operational teams in managing Suppliers from the inception of the RFQ process through the award of production programs, into start of production and finally through serial production. The goal of this role is to provide experience in the day-to-day life of a Buyer that will prepare the selected student for a future career in Purchasing.
Your Responsibilities
Support the commodity and operational purchasing team to manage Magna Lighting's Supply including:

  • Preparation of RFQ packages / Analysis of supplier quotations.
  • Participate and help develop sourcing decisions based on negotiated cost, quality, delivery and financial stability.
  • Support buyers to drive supplier cost savings through on-going negotiations with the commodity buyers and help to drive value-add, value engineering (VAVE) initiatives.
  • Work with internal customers and external suppliers to aid in resolving supplier quality and/or delivery issues as they arise.
  • Maintain purchasing records, process requisitions and update management on status of orders.
  • Support to create Supplier Requested Engineering Changes through Change Process System for purchasing group.
  • Responsiblity for administrative and financial related tasks which pertain to the purchasing group.


Other special projects as assigned by purchasing management.
Who we are looking for
Education / Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Currently Attending a College or University


Special Knowledge / Skills:

  • Proficient Computer knowledge and skills, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Professional Communication skills (written and verbal)


Physical Demands:

  • Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
