The Role

About Redwood Materials

Redwood is localizing a global battery supply chain that seamlessly integrates recovery, reuse, and recycling — keeping critical minerals in circulation and driving the energy transition. Founded in 2019, we’re delivering low-cost and large-scale energy storage and producing battery materials in the U.S. for the first time, all from batteries we already have.

Buyer, Indirect

The Buyer will play a critical role in centralizing and streamlining procurement activities across the organization. This individual will manage the intake and processing of purchase requisitions (PRs), convert quotes into PRs, and issue purchase orders (POs) while ensuring supplier communication and data accuracy. The role is designed to offload transactional tasks from engineering, operations, and support teams, allowing those groups to focus on core responsibilities. By owning non-technical supplier-facing work, the Buyer will help improve cycle times, reduce rework, and enhance compliance and data quality across the procurement process.

Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Receive PR requests via a centralized portal and validate submission details
  • Select optimal suppliers based on quote analysis and procurement guidelines
  • Create and issue POs in Oracle or other ERP systems
  • Track shipments and escalate delivery issues as needed
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies and coordinate with finance and suppliers
  • Maintain clean and accurate procurement data, including cost center alignment
  • Collaborate with GSMs, engineering, and support teams to ensure procurement efficiency
  • Participate in training and onboarding for new team members and internal transfers

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1–3 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or operations preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Entry-level candidates with strong aptitude are encouraged to apply

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods (up to 8 hours/day)
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies or documents (up to 20 lbs)
  • Ability to participate in in-person meetings and supplier visits as needed

Working Conditions:

  • Standard office environment with regular business hours (Monday–Friday)
  • On-site work preferred with some flexibility
  • Fast-paced, collaborative team setting with cross-functional interactions
  • Occasional extended hours during peak procurement cycles or project deadlines

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
