About the RoleThe Buyer III at Sierra Space utilizes advanced understanding and expertise in procurement, supply chain management, and strategic sourcing to manage and lead procurement activities for critical and high-value purchases.
They interact with leadership, suppliers, and external personnel to ensure seamless coordination and compliance with company policies and procedures. The role involves contract negotiation, risk management, and supplier
relationship management, alongside analyzing market dynamics and forecasting procurement needs. Additionally, the Buyer III mentors junior buyers and provides necessary training, ensuring the success and efficiency of the procurement team.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead procurement activities for critical and high-value purchases, ensuring timely and cost-effective 

  • acquisition of goods and services. 

  • Negotiate contracts, manage risks, and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers. 

  • Analyze market dynamics and forecast procurement needs to support strategic sourcing initiatives. 

  • Handle procurement documentation, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. 

  • Provide mentorship and training to junior buyers to enhance their skills and performance. 

  • Collaborate with leadership, suppliers, and external personnel on matters requiring coordination between 

  • functional organizations. 

  • Manage and leverage procurement software, such as SAP, to optimize procurement processes and 

  • maintain accurate records.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +3 

  • yrs experience). 

  • Typically 5+ years of related experience. 

  • Advanced understanding of procurement, supply chain management, and strategic sourcing. 

  • Expertise in contract negotiation, risk management, and supplier relationship management. 

  • Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills. 

  • Ability to analyze market dynamics and forecast procurement needs. 

  • Strong project management and leadership skills. 

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Outlook, and ERP/MRP systems such as SAP. 

  • Ability to interact with leadership, suppliers, and external personnel on matters often requiring coordination 

  • between functional organizations. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Certifications: supply chain certification. 

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze market data and make informed decisions. 

  • Experience in aerospace or a related industry. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 

  • Strong leadership skills with experience in driving procurement initiatives. 

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of procurement and supply 

  • chain management. 

Compensation:

 

Pay Range: 

$91,080 - $125,235

 

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.  

Additional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps

  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity

  • Frequently requires hearing abilities to include discerning different tones and volumes

  • Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)

  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials

  • Rarely exposed to loud noises

Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
