Job Description
Position Summary:
The Technical Buyer 2 plays a vital role in ensuring the timely acquisition of high-quality direct material for a semiconductor equipment manufacturer. This position requires understanding and experience in supply chain management and ability to learn quickly technical aspects of semiconductor equipment manufacturing. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with various departments, including engineering, manufacturing, quality, and research and development, to meet the company's production, sales, and R&D needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers based on technical specifications, drawings, quality standards, and delivery performance.
- Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to optimize cost and ensure timely delivery.
- Monitor supplier performance closely, including quality metrics, delivery times, capacity and cost compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration and problem-solving.
- Ensure on-time delivery of procured goods and escalate issues promptly when necessary.
- Procurement:
- Analyze demand forecasts and inventory levels to determine procurement needs.
- Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to optimize inventory levels and minimize costs.
- Process MRP output, Orders, RFQs, Purchase orders and deliveries.
- Follow up on Purchase orders, ensure absence of Production plan disruptions, track Production shortages, expedite delivery if needed, and escalate internally and externally.
- Contribute to inventory planning improvement.
- Assist in creative problem-solving to deliver Projects.
- Manage the entire procurement process, from requisition to receipt, including issuing purchase orders, tracking shipments, and resolving discrepancies.
- Technical Evaluation:
- Collaborate with engineering teams to gain a deep understanding of technical specifications and requirements for components and materials.
- Actively participate in First Article Inspections (FAI) and supplier qualifications to ensure adherence to standards.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and engineering teams regarding component selection, troubleshooting, and implementation of engineering changes with suppliers.
- Cost Management:
- Conduct thorough cost analysis and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Negotiate favorable pricing with suppliers to achieve cost-effective procurement.
- Track and analyze spending to ensure compliance with budgets and cost targets.
- Risk Management:
- Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks, such as supplier disruptions, quality issues, and geopolitical factors.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential challenges.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1-3 years of experience in technical procurement or supply chain management (manufacturing, high mix precision machined/fabricated parts, custom cable assemblies and harnesses, electric components, hardware are a PLUS)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools.
- Experience with Project management tool and Windchill is a PLUS.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change.
- Strong collaborative skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Problem-solving skills to address supply chain challenges and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Adherence to company procedures, contract, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in supplier relationship management (SRM) and risk management.
- Willingness to travel up to 15%.
- Experience in cost analysis
