As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Buyer for External Operations Finished Goods, who is responsible for managing the operational relationships with a specified group of finished good suppliers. The role includes formulating supplier production plans in accordance with a pre-defined supply plan and developing/executing the corresponding purchase orders.

This position is based in Tijuana, Mexico.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop strong operational relationships with designated finished goods suppliers.

  • Gain a deep understanding of the suppliers’ products, production capabilities & capacities, order lead times, contract terms and supplier contact names.

  • Align with global procurement to accurately reflect contract terms within in supplier forecasting, production planning and purchase order execution activities.

  • Negotiate fair pricing with designated buyer managed suppliers.

  • Consult with Supply Planning team to assure supplier capabilities and constraints are incorporated within the global supply plan.

  • Formulate production plans, in cooperation with Procurement and suppliers, to meet the supply plan requirements.

  • Obtain, monitor and assess supplier production schedule, materials requirements plan, raw material replenishment plan, safety stock, bill of materials, raw material supplier names, raw material supplier lead times and supply chain risks.

  • Govern supplier performance against the production plan, capture and share supply constraints vs. plan in accordance with the S&OP process.

  • Collect and monitor supplier FG manufacturing and delivery performance.

  • Lead role to anticipate, capture and assess variances to plan from the ExOps supply base – following defined issue escalation protocols.

  • Lead the execution of all purchase orders, maintaining alignment with global Procurement.

  • Issue other relevant contracts including but not limited to; Letters of Intent, Purchase Orders for Capital Equipment or Supplier Tooling, Production Part Purchase Orders.

  • Responsible for assuring Procure to Pay excellence.

    • Generate thorough Purchase Orders in accordance with supply agreement terms.

    • Responsible to resolve purchase order volume and price mismatch.

    • Clear mismatch with Finance and assure on time payment.

  • Monitor supplier production and report actuals.

  • Facilitate material rejections and returns.

  • Lead role to assure finished goods are ordered and shipped to designed warehouse/customer locations as directed by the supply plan.

  • Regularly interact with planning, procurement and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Analytical skills and familiarity with a wide range of software solutions including enterprise resource planning (ERP), product life cycle management (PLM), manufacturing execution systems (MES), quality management systems (QMS), transportation management systems (TMS) and others (including SAP).

  • APICS certification desired.

  • Experience in sourcing, procurement, category management and supplier relationship management (SRM).

  • Experience working in manufacturing operations, medical diagnostics or device preferred.

  • New product introduction exposure.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams.

  • Contingency planning, business continuity management and risk mitigation experience.

The Individual 

  • A minimum of a BS degree in STEM required. An MBA/MS preferred.

  • A focused degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance or Operations preferred. 

  • 3-5+ years of related experience in procurement and/or supply chain planning.

  • High-level of proficiency in MS Office (e.g., MS Excel and MS PowerPoint).

  • Detail-oriented and excellent analytical skills.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

  • 5-10% travel for this position.

  • Spanish Speaking preferred.
