Job Summary
Serves as a senior technical lead for assigned line of business applications within the product operating model framework. Provides broad technical expertise across solution architecture, application design, development oversight, and platform pattern alignment. Partners with the Business Architect, Product Security Lead, Platform teams, SRE, and Business Unit Risk Manager (BURM) to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable technology solutions. This position is responsible for technical requirements definition, solution and application architecture design, technical design documentation, API specifications, database design, and ensuring adherence to enterprise technology standards. Leads technical aspects of Technology Review Board gate reviews, drives development methodology and technical debt management, and serves as the primary technical escalation point for the product delivery team for the assigned line of business.
Job Responsibilities:
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Owns technical requirements definition, solution architecture design, and application architecture design, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, platform patterns, and security requirements.
- Creates and maintains technical design documents (TDD), architecture decision records (ADRs), API documentation, integration designs, and database/data model specifications.
- Leads Technology Review Board technical artifact preparation, Initial Design Review technical designs, and facilitates gate review presentations in partnership with Business Architect and Product Security Leader.
- Provides application code development oversight, establishes development approach and methodology, manages technical debt, and ensures secure coding standards compliance in partnership with Product Security.
- Defines test strategy, owns performance requirements and design, leads code review process establishment, and oversees regression testing, defect triage, and quality metrics reporting.
- Participates in sprint planning, story refinement sessions, and release planning; creates technical stories/tasks and collaborates with SRE on Definition of Done criteria.
- Coordinates with Platform teams on platform pattern alignment, initiates platform onboarding for applications, and ensures consumption of shared platform services (Kubernetes, service mesh, API gateway).
- Identifies and manages technology risks, supports incident root cause analysis and post-incident reviews, leads corrective action implementation, and coordinates vendor technical contract reviews.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Qualifications:
- Education level preferred: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent
- Minimum experience required: 8+ Years in software engineering, solution architecture, or technical leadership with hands-on experience designing and delivering enterprise applications
- Demonstrated experience with solution architecture, API design, microservices, and modern application development patterns in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Proven ability to lead technical teams, establish development standards, and drive delivery of complex technology initiatives in Agile environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education level preferred: Undergraduate Degree (4 years or equivalent)
- Experience with containerization (Kubernetes, Docker), service mesh, API gateways, and platform pattern consumption. AWS/Azure/GCP certifications preferred.
- Banking or financial services experience with understanding of regulatory requirements and secure development practices. Experience with Technology Review Board governance processes preferred.
Job Competencies:
- Expert knowledge of solution architecture, application design patterns, and enterprise integration methodologies.
- Deep understanding of modern development technologies, frameworks, and cloud-native architectures (microservices, containers, serverless).
- Strong understanding of API design, RESTful services, event-driven architectures, and integration patterns.
- Proficiency in database design, data modeling, and both relational and NoSQL database technologies.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipeline concepts.
- Understanding of platform patterns, horizontal compute services, and shared infrastructure consumption models.
- Excellent technical documentation skills with ability to create architecture decision records, technical design documents, and API specifications.
- Strong verbal communication skills with ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders and present to Technology Review Boards.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for complex technical challenges.
- Experience with test strategy definition, performance testing, code review processes, and quality assurance practices.
- Ability to identify, assess, and manage technology risks and drive corrective actions.
- Understanding of secure development practices and ability to collaborate with Product Security on application security requirements.
- Experience with technical debt identification, prioritization, and remediation strategies.
- Ability to mentor and guide development teams, establish coding standards, and drive technical excellence.
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving technology landscape and emerging development frameworks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Business Architects, Product Security, Platform, and SRE teams within PXT framework.
- Understanding of product operating model framework, Technology Review Board processes, and cross-functional governance models.
- Experience with incident management, root cause analysis, and post-incident review processes.
- Strong vendor technical evaluation skills with ability to assess third-party solutions and integration approaches.
- Strategic thinking with ability to balance tactical delivery needs with long-term architectural vision.
- Leadership capability to drive technical decisions, resolve conflicts, and build high-performing development teams.
- Demonstrates a strong ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders by communicating clearly, engaging in proactive collaboration, and leveraging cross functional insights. Aligns relationship building efforts with enterprise goals to accelerate performance and drive strategic results.
