It governs how those systems are planned, built, changed, and supported, and ties each investment to measurable business value.
The Mandate Has Three Parts:
- Run a reliable, secure Salesforce and web application environment with defined service levels for support, enhancements, and issue resolution.
- Build the business systems the company's growth plan depends on: scalable Salesforce capabilities, clean integrations with the ERP, and practical automation and AI that users adopt.
- Institutionalize what works. Document configurations, integrations, and standards, and develop the team so the function performs at the same level regardless of who leads it.
- Lead the development and execution of the business systems roadmap, aligned to the Corporate IT roadmap and enterprise architecture.
- Own the systems lifecycle from intake through retirement.
- Run governance and change control for Salesforce and web applications, and track system performance.

- Act as the primary liaison between Corporate IT and Sales, Service, and Operations stakeholders.

- Serve as the escalation point for Tier 2 and Tier 3 application issues.
- Monitor vendor platform releases, updates, and deprecations; ensure changes are tested, communicated, and deployed without disruption to users.
- Works with the end-users, troubleshoots issues, and provides on-going production support for Salesforce and related systems.
- Lead and/or oversee projects involving Salesforce and its integrations with other systems.
- Own day-to-day vendor and managed-service relationships, including statements of work, deliverables, and service levels.
- Lead RFP processes and vendor selection when needed, including recommendations.
- Determines appropriate application solutions to business requirements.
- Creates and documents functional specifications, use case and design documents
- Participates in, and contributes, to all phases of system development including requirements gathering, design, development, configuration, testing and deployment, and maintenance.
- Ensure systems meet compliance, audit, and data governance standards, including financial audit controls, GDPR, and other applicable privacy regulations.
- Oversee role-based access and application security in partnership with IT Infrastructure and Cybersecurity.
- Conduct periodic audits of users, roles, and access. Provide guidance, recommendation, and directives to the business to ensure security and compliance is achieved.
- Establish master data management and data quality standards across Salesforce and integrated systems.
- Track emerging enterprise application capabilities, including AI and automation.
- Development of AI capabilities that maximizes the value of Salesforce
- Recommend adoption based on business value and total cost of ownership.
- Lead and mentor business systems staff.
- Set goals, track KPIs, and build a performance-driven culture.
- Balance team workload across concurrent projects.
Success is measured by system reliability, business adoption, and how well the function runs without depending on any one person. Targets are to be set with the Senior Director, Corporate IT at the start of the role.
