The Business Systems Development Manager is a “player-coach” leader responsible for the delivery and technical direction of the Business Systems Development team — approximately eight developers based across the U.S., Canada, and Asia. This role combines hands-on technical contribution across Salesforce development, MuleSoft integration development, and database administration with day-to-day people leadership, mentoring, and delivery management. Responsibilities:
- Serve as a hands-on technical contributor and player-coach — personally developing and reviewing code across Salesforce (Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow) and MuleSoft integrations and providing DBA-level guidance and support as needed
- Set technical direction and best practices for Salesforce and NetSuite development, MuleSoft integration architecture, Databricks/data platform work, and database administration
- Own the team’s roadmap for building new capabilities in ETL, Data Platforms, and DBA disciplines, including training, hiring, and process development to grow these skillsets across the team
- Lead, mentor, and manage a distributed team of approximately eight business systems developers across the U.S., Canada, and Asia, including hiring, performance management, career development, and day-to-day workload prioritization
- Partner with business stakeholders and technology leadership to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions across Salesforce, NetSuite, MuleSoft, and the broader data platform
- Provide database administration oversight, including performance tuning, security, backup/recovery, and data governance across production databases
- Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement across business systems to increase reliability and reduce manual effort
Requirements:
- Proven hands-on experience as a Salesforce developer (Apex, Lightning Web Components, Visualforce, Flow, SOQL/SOSL), including custom development and complex integrations
- Hands-on database administration skills (schema design, performance tuning, security, backup/recovery) across relational databases; Databricks or other modern data platform experience strongly preferred
- Proven hands-on experience with modern code generation tools such as Cursor, Github CoPilot, VsCode, or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience leading, managing, or mentoring a team of developers, ideally in a “player-coach” capacity
- You will have development/story work on your personal plate of work
Nice To Have:
- NetSuite development/administration experience preferred
- Hands-on MuleSoft development experience (Anypoint Platform, DataWeave, API-led connectivity), or strong readiness to lead a team building this capability
- Experience managing distributed, global teams across multiple time zones
- Strong understanding of API integration patterns, ETL/data pipelines, and enterprise system architecture
- Strong understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex, cross-system issues, particularly in a sales system context
- Strong project management skills; Agile/Scrum experience preferred
- Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., Salesforce Platform Developer I/II, MuleSoft Certified
- Developer, or database/cloud data certifications)
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders and represent the team to senior leadership
Skills Required
- Hands-on Salesforce development experience with Apex, Lightning Web Components, Visualforce, Flow, SOQL, and SOSL
- Experience with custom Salesforce development and complex integrations
- Hands-on database administration across relational databases, including schema design, performance tuning, security, and backup/recovery
- Experience with Databricks or another modern data platform
- Hands-on experience with code generation tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, VS Code, or equivalent
- At least 3 years leading, managing, or mentoring a developer team
- Willingness to maintain personal development and story work
- NetSuite development or administration experience
- Hands-on MuleSoft development experience or readiness to lead development of this capability
- Experience managing distributed global teams across multiple time zones
- Understanding of API integration patterns, ETL and data pipelines, and enterprise system architecture
- Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance standards
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex cross-system issues
- Strong project management skills and Agile/Scrum experience
- Relevant Salesforce, MuleSoft, database, or cloud data certifications
