Trash stinks. Together, we can do better. Mill has created a new system to help you outsmart waste at home.
The Role

Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there’s no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It’s gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.

Role Overview

As we scale our operations, we need robust systems to match our pace. You will be responsible for designing and overseeing the architecture of our systems, including ERP, CRM, PLM, and all other systems used for either internal operations or shared with third parties to achieve business goals.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders across engineering, operations, sales, marketing, and finance to evaluate and select systems as well as to ensure systems are integrated, scalable, and aligned with our business goals.

You will consider how to efficiently and effectively use artificial intelligence to enhance operational efficiency and to align with Mill’s strategic goals.

This role is a blend of strategic planning and hands-on execution, requiring a leader who can both design cutting-edge solutions and roll up their sleeves to implement them.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable internal systems architecture to support core business functions
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to define and deliver technology roadmaps that enhance operational efficiency and support long-term scalability
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, translating business objectives into actionable technical plans
  • Lead across stakeholders to evaluate, select, and integrate SaaS platforms (ERP, PLM, CRM, etc.) with existing infrastructure
  • Map and optimize business processes, workflows, and data flows across departments
  • Lead systems integrations between tools such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Jira, Airtable, etc.
  • Establish metrics to monitor system performance and proactively address any issues that arise
  • Proactively identify risks in system architecture and establish robust controls to safeguard sensitive information
  • Own system documentation, training, and change management processes
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, finance, sales, marketing, and product teams to align systems with evolving needs.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of system implementations, from planning through go-live, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
  • Ensure data consistency, security, and compliance across all platforms
  • Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiations and performance evaluations, to optimize value from technology investments
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends including AI to identify opportunities for innovation within enterprise business systems.

Requirements
  • 12+ years experience in business systems architecture, internal systems engineering, enterprise automations and integrations, or a similar role.
  • Proven track record of designing and deploying systems at high-growth startups or similar environments
  • Experience with modern SaaS tools (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, SAP, Airtable, Jira, Slack)
  • Strong understanding of system integration techniques (APIs, webhooks, middleware)
  • Experience with data modeling, business process design, and automation tools
  • Exceptional communication and project management skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Comfortable navigating both technical and non-technical environments
  • Experience in a business with inventory (hardware, retail, e-commerce, etc)

The estimated base salary range for this position is $180k to $240k, which does not include the any benefits or equity. Various factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs.

What We Do

We’re on a mission to eliminate waste for good, starting with the food that ends up in landfills. Did you know that more than half of the food in landfills comes from home kitchens (ReFED)? And food in landfills turns into methane – which is 80x more potent than CO2 over a 20-year period (IPCC). At Mill, we’re working to turn kitchen scraps into food for chickens. This keeps food in our food system and out of landfills.

Why Work With Us

Food isn't trash. Mill keeps it from stinking up your kitchen – and the planet.
