Position Summary
The Business Systems Analyst II (BSA II) junior to mid-level role that conducts analysis, configuration, enhancement, planning, design, implementation, adoption, and optimization of enterprise applications that drive customer experience, meter data collection, and field operations in the natural gas industry. This role works closely with senior analysts, IT teams, and business stakeholders to ensure systems are aligned with operational needs and integrated with platforms such as Customer Information Systems (CIS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), and Sales/CRM systems.This is a hands-on, collaborative role ideal for someone with foundational experience in business systems analysis who is ready to take on more complex responsibilities and contribute to cross-functional projects. This level will demonstrate some time management & prioritization skills but will need direction on day-to-day activities. The administrator will also contribute to small-scale project work, including testing, documentation, and implementation support. This role includes team leadership responsibilities and reports to Managers/Directors.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor, manage, and maintain enterprise applications such as CIS, CMMS, and field service platforms.
- Support, administer, develop, maintain, and support Customer Experience components, EDI, web applications, dashboards, and mobile apps (Metering).
- Supports and administer configuration, change management, and testing activities to support service-oriented architecture and integration between all applications.
- Perform user account management, access control, and role-based permissions updates.
- Troubleshoot application issues and resolve service requests in coordination with senior team members.
- Participate in application testing, patching, and upgrade activities.
- Collaborate with business users to understand functional requirements and provide application support aligned with operational needs.
- Assist in creating and maintaining documentation of system configurations, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to minor project tasks such as data validation, test case execution, and deployment support.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams and stakeholders regarding system changes, outages, and support updates.
- Participate in team meetings, knowledge-sharing sessions, and cross-functional discussions.
- Monitor system performance and escalate issues as needed.
- Support compliance activities, including audits and data governance reviews
- Ensure applications are operational, accurate, available, usable, accessible, and integrated.
- Research & lead communication for patching, upgrades, outages, etc.
- Support business continuity through proactive monitoring and disaster recovery planning.
- Assist in design, support, troubleshooting and ownership of integrations (APIs, REST, etc.):
- CIS for customer location and service data.
- GIS for spatial asset management and field operations.
- EAM for utility asset management and field operations.
- CRM/Sales systems for customer engagement and service delivery.
- External systems.
- Assist with incident response and root cause analysis for major application issues
- Ensure adherence to IT policies, data governance, and audit requirements.
- Participate in business case development for new solutions.
- Coordinate with vendors for support, licensing, and renewals.
- Manage IT ticketing workflows, prioritize enhancements, and monitor KPIs.
- Support special projects and business initiatives to reduce costs and improve data workflows.
- Actively pursue knowledge of current and emerging industry & technology standards.
- Support best practices in application lifecycle management, change control, and IT governance.
- Facilitate communication and build relationships between IT and business teams, including training and knowledge transfer.
- Assist in with business requirements, system configuration, testing, and documentation.
- Analyze and assess opportunities to improve system performance, data workflows, and operational efficiency.
- Support & contribute to special projects, upgrades, new implementations, and business initiatives to reduce costs and improve data workflows.
- Coordinate with administrators of systems to ensure data consistency and interoperability.
Required Skills:
- Familiarity with field service tools and mobile workforce applications.
- Working knowledge of scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Understanding of APIs, web services, and basic integration concepts.
- Familiarity with IT service management tools.
- Knowledge of AI tools and their application in utility operations.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with business users, IT peers, and vendors.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and contributing to collaborative problem-solving.
- Comfortable participating in meetings, documenting discussions, and following up on action items.
- Experience in the natural gas or utilities industry.
- Knowledge of customer systems.
- Exposure to cloud platforms and containerized environments.
- Knowledge of AI tools and their application in utility operations.
Qualifications
Required Background:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or;
- Master’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience.
- Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Available for on-call escalation support during nights and weekends.

Compensation Range:
$70,125 - 112,200We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
