Position Summary
The Business Systems Analyst 1 supports and enables business operations by assisting with requirements documentation, performing basic application administration tasks, and contributing to production support. The BSA 1 focuses on learning system functionality, business processes, and support procedures while completing well-defined tasks with guidance. Additionally, the BSA 1 assists with issue triage, testing, and system upgrades, coordinates simple follow-up activities with IT teams or vendors, and builds foundational knowledge to communicate effectively with business users.

Responsibilities
Primary Position Responsibilities
- Gathers and documents requirements with guidance, building foundational skills in business analysis and requirements documentation.
- Develops effective communication skills with business users, IT teams, and vendors.
- Coordinates follow-up activities with business users, IT peers, and vendors while seeking guidance from teammates as needed, and shadows other analysts on project activities and tasks.
- Performs validations, documents and communicates results, and assists with coordination of user acceptance testing.
- Updates and maintains existing documentation while learning documentation standards and expectations.
- Performs basic configurations or system updates with guidance in order to learn system structures and administrative functions.
- Learns to manage common support issues by identifying priority and impact and assists with preparing for and deploying upgrades and other system maintenance activities.
- Builds foundational knowledge of systems, processes, and business context to perform assigned work effectively.
- Follows established IT standards and procedures while learning team practices and expectations.
- Seeks guidance, incorporates feedback, and applies learning to improve performance and understanding.
Secondary Position Responsibilities
- Attends annual required company training and employee development.
- Performs other duties and activities as directed.
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
- 0-3 years experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or Systems Support Analyst.
Education, Experience, and Certifications Preferred
- Broad range of technology exposure.
- Experience supporting small projects or project activities.
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts.
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL, Project Management methodologies, and/or Business Analysis methodologies.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Developing analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong adaptability and capacity to work in fast-paced environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others, particularly in teams.
