Founded in 2015 as a Core Research Facility, Griffith University’s Clinical Trial Unit is a community-focused, internationally recognised clinical trial site advancing healthcare through Phase I–IV trials. We offer GCP-aligned facilities and expert coordination services, supporting both academic and commercially funded trials across a wide range of therapeutic areas - including chronic and rare diseases, vaccines, GMOs, medical devices, and complementary medicines. 

Job Description

As the Business Support Officer, you will contribute to the start-up and conduct of CTU commercial clinical trials through the provision of specialist support for clinical trial related regulatory, governance and ethics activities. The role will have responsibility for compiling essential documents and maintaining relevant clinical systems to support effective engagement and communication with sponsors, CROs, investigators regulatory bodies and university stakeholders.

As the Business Support you will:

  • Provide high level administrative and business management support to senior staff to facilitate timely start-up of clinical research studies from feasibility to site initiation.
  • Initiate and coordinate all ethics submissions including amendments, annual reports and safety reporting to Lead HREC, Griffith HREC/governance and other regulatory bodies as required. Draft participant information and consent form updates and provide training and support to staff on ethics submissions and processes.
  • Assist Business Managers in handling the flow of information, establishing trackers and maintaining clinical systems (e.g SiteDocs, CTMS, RedCap) to support compliant and efficient study start-up and conduct of CTU clinical trials.
  • Communicate effectively with commercial sponsors, vendors and clinicians during the start up to increase efficiency, meet timelines and maintain effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders including professional organisations and the community as required.
  • Undertake and coordinate the collection, verification and maintenance of essential documents (e.g. CVs, insurance, professional registration) to sponsors and CROs and draft complex correspondence and clinician contracts.
  • Contribute to business processes including invoicing activities and financial tracking and assist with the review and update of clinical trial budgets and contracts.

About you
To be successful in this position, you will hold a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualifications/work experience in a relevant field (e.g. health or science related field).

In addition to the above, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience with clinical trial related regulatory, governance and ethics activities.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills, and an understanding of data privacy and confidentiality.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to utilise various systems effectively.

What we can offer
This is a full-time, continuing contingent position based primarily at Griffith University’s Gold Coast location. This means the role is ongoing, but continued employment is dependent on the availability of external funding.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full-time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 7 range $104,504 - $113,219 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $122,270 - $132,466 per annum.
