About the Role

Join Motive as a Business Strategy & Operations Analyst II and act as a strategic partner to Sales and GTM leaders. This is not a reporting-support seat. You will own recurring business rhythms end-to-end, build the automation that makes those rhythms scale, and bring a point of view to the leaders you support.

Our team operates as the operational engine behind the sales organization: we run the weekly and quarterly business review cadence, own the data infrastructure behind it, plan territories and coverage, and track quota attainment and performance KPIs that leadership makes decisions on. We are actively replacing manual work with agents, workflows, and scripted automation and we expect the person in this seat to build, not just consume, those tools.

This role suits someone with a few years of operating experience who can take an ambiguous business question, structure it, pull the data themselves, and come back with a defensible recommendation.

What You'll Do

  • Own recurring business reviews. Run the weekly and quarterly business review cadence for your business: reconcile the numbers, surface the story behind the movement, and hold the deadlines leadership depends on.

  • Build automation, not just reports. Identify the manual work worth eliminating, then ship the fix: AI agents, multi-system workflows, and scripted data pipelines.

  • Drive analysis that changes decisions. Analyze pipeline, funnel, forecast, and productivity data to answer what leaders are actually asking, with a recommendation attached.

  • Support territory planning and coverage. Partner with sales leaders on territory design, account assignment, book balance, and where to add capacity.

  • Own quota, target, and KPI tracking. Keep attainment and performance tracking accurate, with metric definitions that hold up under executive scrutiny.

  • Partner with stakeholders directly. Act as the operational counterpart to sales leaders, and coordinate with Systems, Data Quality, Enablement, SDR, Marketing, and Finance to fix issues at the source.

  • Protect data integrity. Build QA into everything you ship, and fix the upstream cause when the same issue appears twice.

What We're Looking For

  • Professional Background: 2+ years in sales operations, revenue operations, business intelligence, or business strategy, with real ownership of recurring reporting or analytics for a commercial team.

  • SQL (mandatory): You independently write and debug warehouse queries, including joins, window functions, CTEs, and aggregation logic.

  • Spreadsheet and CRM depth (mandatory): Advanced Google Sheets, plus working knowledge of Salesforce objects, fields, and reports.

  • AI and automation building (core requirement): You have personally shipped working automation using Glean, n8n, Apps Script, or comparable platforms. Hex or similar analytics tooling and Python are a strong advantage.

  • Analytical judgment: You can frame a vague request into a structured problem, pick the right level of rigor, and defend your assumptions.

  • Communication: You can explain a complex data model to a non-technical sales leader and compress long analysis into a clear, quantified narrative.

  • Ownership: You chase down answers across teams unprompted, escalate with a proposed solution attached, and hold a high accuracy bar as a personal standard.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus.

Creating a diverse and inclusive workplace is one of Motive's core values. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome people of different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives.
