Job Summary
The Principal IT Architect (Business Solutions & Applications) will define and drive enterprise application architecture strategy, ensuring the organization’s technology solutions align with corporate strategy, enhance operational efficiencies, and support long-term healthcare business goals. As a senior technical leader, you will shape enterprise-wide design principles, provide architectural thought leadership across critical software portfolios, and establish solution design governance centered around a Minimum Viable Architecture (MVA) framework. This role will be heavily focused on EMR and clinical systems, partnering closely with executive and clinical leadership to influence strategic investments, guide complex buy-build-customize analyses, and mentor senior architects across the healthcare enterprise.
Essential Functions
- Defines and drives enterprise architecture strategy and multi-year technology roadmaps aligned with organizational objectives.
- Serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on enterprise technology direction, investment priorities, and technology risk considerations.
- Leads governance of architectural decisions, standards, and frameworks across the organization.
- Evaluates emerging technologies and assesses their potential impact on enterprise systems and technology strategy.
- Provides architectural leadership for enterprise-scale transformation initiatives, ensuring alignment with architecture principles and enterprise standards.
- Mentors and guides architects and engineering leaders to strengthen enterprise architecture maturity and capability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; or the equivalent required
- Master's Degree in in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; or the equivalent preferred
- More than 10 years of experience in IT architecture, systems design, or related engineering disciplines required
- 15+ years of experience in IT or Cybersecurity preferred
- 7+ years of experience in application architecture in a clinical setting preferred

- Deep expertise across multiple architecture domains, including enterprise, cloud, infrastructure, application, and network architecture.
- Ability to design and communicate enterprise-scale architecture solutions with measurable business impact.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence strategic technology and investment decisions.
- Experience leading digital transformation and large-scale technology modernization initiatives.
- Demonstrated thought leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Licenses and Certifications
- Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or comparable credentials preferred
