The Opportunity:

The Office of Academic Engagement (OAE) oversees a broad range of student success initiatives, including pre-college and undergraduate programs and services, scholarships, a student center, collaborative faculty research projects, and peer educator programs and certifications.

 

As the Business Services Manager, you will provide comprehensive leadership and management of OAE’s financial, personnel, and business administration functions. You will oversee the planning, development, analysis, and management of budgets for grants, contracts, state funds, and program activities, ensuring sound fiscal practices and accurate, comprehensive record keeping.

 

You will lead day-to-day business operations, including budgeting and forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, purchasing, payroll, travel and reimbursements, personnel administration, recruitment, property inventory, auditing, record keeping, and grant and contract administration. You will analyze financial and administrative activities, develop specialized reports, and ensure compliance with applicable university and funding requirements.

 

In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Director on fiscal planning, forecasting, and budgeting, as well as with the Finance Officer in the Office of the Provost & Executive Vice President. You will independently manage and process the unit’s budgetary, fiscal, and personnel responsibilities while providing guidance and support on administrative functions and program planning. You may also consult with funding agencies, support special events, and assist with other administrative priorities as needed.
* Please note reporting main office location is located on the WSU Pullman Campus. This position will be considered for a hybrid scheduled with arrangements aligned per agreement between employee and supervisor.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position.

This position is may be overtime eligible or overtime ineligible, depending on final placement within the salary range.
Monthly Salary: $4,942.10 to $7,569.55 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Experience using computer accounting information systems and/or applications software.

  • Experience managing complex budgets and multiple funding sources.

  • Experience with personnel administration, including recruitment, hiring, payroll, position management, and employee records.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of experience in accounting, finance, business administration or related roles.

  • Experience working in a higher education, public sector, or similarly complex organizational environment.

  • Experience with grant and contract administration. 

  • Strong working knowledge of business management software.

  • Highly organized and ability to wear multiple hats in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity and solutions.
