The Business Performance Director is responsible for driving cost visibility, control, and improvement across programs and engine lines within the San Antonio facility. This role provides strategic leadership in cost management to maximize profitability and margin performance, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer requirements. The Business Performance Director works cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, engineering, commercial/bid development and program management teams to deliver accurate cost analysis, enable informed decision-making, and drive initiatives that improve cost efficiency and business performance.
What You’ll Do
- Drive program and engine profitability through margin analysis, profitability assessments, pricing strategies, and actionable recommendations across customer programs, contracts, and engine lines.
- Lead annual pricing strategy, including analysis of market conditions, cost drivers, contract requirements, and margin opportunities to support competitive and profitable commercial offerings.
- Partner with Program Management to develop accurate cost-to-complete forecasts, profitability tracking, and financial recommendations for ongoing programs.
- Develop business cases and financial models for pool development, repair schemes, new commercial offerings, and other strategic initiatives designed to maximize program margin.
- Identify and execute cost savings and EBITDA improvement opportunities, including contract clauses, USM, repair expansion, O&A billing, and other commercial or operational opportunities.
- Lead detailed cost variance analysis across labor, materials, overhead, subcontracting, tooling, logistics, and other spend categories to identify risks and opportunities.
- Develop and maintain robust cost models and scenario analyses to support business planning, pricing decisions, commercial bids, contract negotiations, and strategic decision-making.
- Provide clear, actionable cost and profitability reporting to commercial and business leaders, highlighting key financial drivers, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions.
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Finance to identify and implement cost reduction, efficiency, and profitability improvement initiatives.
- Ensure cost management, reporting, and financial analysis comply with corporate policies, financial standards, regulatory requirements, GAAP, and industry best practices while maintaining strong partnership with Finance and Audit.
Basic Qualifications:
- An Undergraduate Degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or other related field is required
- 8+ Years in progressive finance, cost management, or operations experience in aerospace, aviation, or MRO environments.
- 5+ Year record of driving profitability improvement and margin expansion in a complex, multi-product line business.
- 8+ Years demonstrating strong analytical skills with expertise in cost modeling, variance analysis, and program profitability assessments.
Desired Skills:
- MBA is preferred.
- Deep understanding of MRO operations, various contracts, and cost structures.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and business partnering skills with the ability to influence across functions.
- Proficiency in ERP and financial systems, with advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
