The Opportunity

Downer is seeking a People & Culture Business Partner to support our Telco and Networks Australia operational teams within Energy & Utilities. You will partner with leaders to translate business objectives into effective people solutions, deliver workforce and talent strategies, drive organisational performance, and support compliance with employment legislation, company policies and people practices aligned to broader business goals. 

This is an opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and operational teams, providing responsive, commercially aware People & Culture advice across the employee lifecycle while contributing to key Energy & Utilities P&C initiatives. 

What we are looking for 

  • Tertiary qualification related to Human Resources and/or Industrial Relations
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar Business Partnering or Senior Advisor role within a complex operating environment
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations and industrial relations matters, including enterprise bargaining preparation and union engagement 
  • Proven experience partnering with senior leaders and key stakeholders to deliver strategic People & Culture initiatives across workforce planning, succession planning, talent management, performance and development, employee engagement, organisational design and change management
  • A strong understanding of employment legislation, industrial awards and agreements, with the ability to provide sound and practical advice
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across operational teams, peers, managers and cross-business functions
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to set priorities, work to tight timeframes and manage stakeholder expectations in a changing environment
  • A resilient, outcome-focused and hands-on approach, with the ability to operate autonomously while contributing as part of a collaborative team
