Business Operations Intern – Risk & Projects
Our intern program is tailored to individuals who are currently enrolled full-time students at an accredited university. The internship runs from February to November. Working hours can be a minimum of 24 hours up to 40 hours per week- dependent on the intern’s availability. The goal of the Huntsman Intern Program is to provide a structured program that will equip interns with the skills and experience to help prepare for a successful career.
Job Scope
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support the administration of Huntsman's Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP). This opportunity is ideal for students who are interested in developing a career in project coordination, contracts, procurement, insurance, or risk management within a global industrial organization.
The successful candidate will support the OCIP team with program administration, documentation, reporting, and cross-functional coordination while gaining exposure to insurance program management, construction operations, and process improvement. Training on OCIP concepts and processes will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Program Administration
- Support the day-to-day administration of the OCIP program.
- Assist with maintaining insurance certificates, endorsements, and compliance documentation.
- Help track contractor participation and maintain accurate program records.
- Identify opportunities to improve documentation and administrative processes.
- Support the development and documentation of OCIP processes and procedures.
Program Compliance & Reporting
- Assist in monitoring contractor compliance with OCIP requirements.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to program enrollment, compliance status, and key performance metrics.
- Support internal audits and documentation reviews.
- Help ensure accurate recordkeeping and data integrity.
Communication & Coordination
- Support communication with internal stakeholders regarding contractor enrollment and OCIP requirements.
- Coordinate administrative activities with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Operations, and Legal, as needed.
- Respond to routine inquiries and escalate complex issues to the appropriate team members.
- Schedule meetings, maintain trackers, and follow up on action items.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.
All candidates are expected to work at our office in AFZ, Heredia on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Please note that there may be occasions where additional office days are required, due specific business needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Project Management, Construction Management, Risk Management, or a related field.
Experience
- Previous internship, university project, leadership experience, or administrative experience is preferred but not required.
Skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to learn new systems and concepts quickly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional, global environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to contracts, procurement, compliance, project coordination, or business operations through coursework, internships, or extracurricular activities.
- Experience using Excel for data organization and reporting.
- Interest in insurance, risk management, procurement, or construction operations.
