The Role

Full Time | $200k-$300k + equity

Barred in CA or Delaware

Corgi is vertically integrating the entire insurance industry. We design, underwrite, price, and issue insurance directly. Insurance is the largest unautomated industry in financial services, and we're rebuilding it from the ground up using AI. We've raised $374M from Kindred, TCV, and others to do so.

Building something great requires working hard. We are in the office 6-7 days a week. We are meritocratic with very high standards. If you don't meet them, you'll get cut. But if you deliver, you have unlimited scope to grow.

We move quickly, care deeply about talent density, and hire people who want to solve difficult problems with unusually high ownership.

What You’ll Do

As a member of the legal staff at Corgi, you will own commercial disputes end-to-end, from pre-litigation strategy through resolution, whether by settlement, arbitration, or trial. You’ll partner directly with leadership and our Head of Legal, drive case strategy on matters that materially affect the company, and build the litigation function as we grow.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage commercial and business litigation matters end-to-end: case strategy, pleadings, motion practice, discovery, depositions, hearings, arbitration, and trial.

• Handle the full range of business disputes: contract, commercial, partnership, vendor, IP, and other inter-company matters.

• Conduct early case assessments; give leadership clear-eyed views on exposure, risk, and resolution paths.

• Run pre-litigation strategy: demand letters, settlement negotiations, mediation, and arbitration.

• Manage and direct outside counsel; control budgets, set strategy, and hold work product to a high standard.

• Own litigation hold protocols, document preservation, and e-discovery in coordination with the Head of Legal.

• Build internal playbooks, templates, and processes so we handle recurring dispute patterns at scale rather than one-off.

• Partner cross-functionally with operations, product, and compliance to identify dispute risk early and resolve issues before they escalate.

What We’re Looking For

• JD from an accredited law school; admitted to practice and in good standing in California or Delaware.

• Substantive experience handling commercial / business litigation matters end-to-end. We’re open to a range: junior litigators with strong courtroom instincts and senior litigators looking for a high-ownership in-house role are both welcome.

• First-chair or significant second-chair experience in matters that reached motion practice, arbitration, hearing, or trial.

• Strong judgment, excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill litigation risk and counsel non-legal stakeholders effectively.

• Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change; you’ll be expected to balance speed with legal soundness.

• Demonstrated ability to manage outside counsel and translate litigation strategy into business outcomes.

Why You Should Join

Founder Mentality: We value extreme ownership and want people who think like founders: fast decision makers, natural problem solvers, and executers.

Ground Floor Opportunity: You’ll be helping to shape and grow a revolutionary company with the resources to back it.

Impact & Speed: Work in a fast-paced environment where your contributions will have immediate, tangible effects on the company’s success.
