Position Summary
The BI Developer (Power BI & Microsoft Fabric) will play a critical role in MedRisk’s enterprise modernization initiatives by designing and delivering scalable analytics solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and supporting cloud data technologies. This position will focus heavily on migrating legacy analytics assets from platforms such as Qlik and SiSense, developing internal and external facing dashboards, and shaping best practices around data modeling, governance, and visualization standards.
This role requires hands-on expertise across all stages of BI solution delivery—data modeling, ETL/ELT pipeline creation, performance optimization, report/dashboard development, and stakeholder collaboration
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize Power BI datasets, dataflows, semantic models, and paginated reports.
- Create intuitive and visually compelling dashboards for both internal and external users.
- Lead the transition from Qlik and SiSense to Power BI by rebuilding dashboards, data models, and ETL logic.
- Assess current-state architecture, identify gaps, and recommend improved design patterns.
- Partner with business leaders, analysts, and product teams to translate business needs into technical specifications.
- Implement BI governance standards including semantic modeling, row-level security, access controls, and workspace organization.
- Validate and troubleshoot data integrity issues across source systems.
- Optimize performance of reports, queries, and data pipelines.
- Provide technical guidance, documentation, training, and support to internal analytics and business teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field strongly preferred.
- Expert in Power BI (Power Query/M, DAX, data modeling, dashboards, RLS).
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or comparable cloud analytics platforms.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data schemas
- Proficiency in SQL database design and SQL programming, including stored procedures, table joins, and optimization
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL framework
- Experience with Jira and Confluence preferred
- Familiarity with Qlik Sense or SiSense is a plus
