As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you’ll use some of the most robust real estate data in the world to build tools and answer important questions about the American housing and rental market related to housing and economic policy, personal finance, urban planning, and other current events. This role works closely with the communications team and your work product will be featured in top national publications, such as the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal and you would be a part of the national dialogue on the housing market.  This role will also work with our content marketing team on initiatives that improve Redfin’s SEO and drive traffic to Redfin.com.

The Role

  • Own the automated processes that create Redfin’s housing market data from various internal and external data sources

  • Work with our economics team to develop and deploy a suite of self service tools, including Tableau dashboards, to share our housing market data with internal and external audiences

  • Create custom pulls from existing data sources to drive media reports and support content marketing goals

  • Become an expert on the architecture of the data sources that the economics team relies on

  • Work our stakeholders to troubleshoot data anomalies

  • Work with engineering teams to bring additional data to the economics team

Desired Skills & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics, operations research, or a related field and 2+ years of experience

  • Advanced SQL (including performance tuning) and Python skills

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Looker as well as Git

  • Experience using AI code generation tools tools such as Snowflake Intelligence and GitHub CoPilot, strongly desired

  • Understanding of data lake/warehouse architectures such as BigQuery, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.

  • Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow and statistical software packages such as R a plus

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with both engineers and non-engineers

  • Experience with data modelling and requirements gathering

  • Housing-market and economics experience is a plus but not required

The compensation information below is provided in compliance with all applicable disclosure requirements.

Base Pay Range: $74,400.00 - 111,300.00. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs. Compensation may also include bonuses and equity.
