We have been standardizing our business processes across our terminal network, modernizing our application landscape, invested heavily in a data management program and data infrastructure foundation as well as speeding up the utilization of data to improve our customer service, make our operations more efficient, reduce our energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions and share our data with partners in the logical supply chain. For this journey we are seeking a BI Consultant capable of improving business decision-making by delivering useful data products and valuable insights. 

Examples of our cloud-based platforms include our enterprise data warehouse (Snowflake), data integration (dbt Cloud) and data visualization (Qlik Cloud) platforms.

In the Global IT department all data capabilities needed to support Vopak’s data journey are covered, ranging from Business Intelligence (BI) Consultants, Data Engineers & Data Scientists to a Data Quality expert and Data Architects.

Your mission
 

As a BI Consultant, you will be responsible for the identification and development of new data & analytics solutions and the improvements of existing data & analytics solutions. Your role is translating business requirements into data-driven solutions by analyzing and modeling the data (products) and creating appealing visualizations.

As a BI Consultant, you will be a member of the global Data Product Management team. You maintain close relationships with Business Subject Matter Experts, Business Unit Data Analysts and end users of the solutions as well as with Data Scientists, Data Engineers and Data Architects. What will you be doing?

As a BI Consultant, you will be responsible for the identification and development of new data & analytics solutions and the improvements of existing data & analytics solutions. Your role is translating business requirements into data-driven solutions by analyzing and modeling the data (products) and creating appealing visualizations. You will make a significant contribution to the digital transformation Vopak is currently in.

• Translate business requirements into data visualizations and data products

• Create data models and data pipeline specifications and ensure compliance with data governance requirements

• Ensure data products are findable, accessible, interoperable and well described 

• Work together with Data Architects to model the data

• Work together with Data Engineers to create the data pipelines

• Develop appealing, trusted and easy-to-use data visualizations

• Establish and monitor processes that ensure the data products are in accordance with the requirements of the data consumers and SLAs. Timely act upon incidents and problems to ensure operation is restored according to its service levels

• Estimate effort and time required to develop the user stories. Supports the IT Service Delivery manager in planning the sprints.

• Perform peer reviews on data models and visualizations developed by other BI Consultants

• Optimize the usage of data & analytics solutions

We are looking for a candidate that enjoys discovering and solving business problems. The role involves ongoing contact with a wide range of colleagues from different departments in a decentralized and international environment.

• Bachelor / Master degree in Business Informatics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Information Systems or another quantitative field

• 2 to 5 years of relevant work experience.

• Excellent influencing and communication skills, including a high level of written and spoken English.

• Excellent communication skills to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with Cloud data platform (Snowflake), data integration (dbt Cloud) & data visualization tooling (Qlik Cloud).

• Experience with agile scrum way of working.

• Experience with using SQL.

• Demonstrated strong teamwork, analytical and problem solving skills.
