Business Intelligence (BI) Developer

Are you a data-driven professional who thrives at the intersection of finance and analytics? Merchants Fleet is looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join our team and empower our Finance Operations and FP&A teams with the tools and insights they need to make impactful decisions.

In this role, you’ll act as a strategic partner—translating complex business questions into powerful reporting solutions. Your dashboards, models, and insights will directly influence high-level financial planning, performance tracking, and strategic direction.

Location: Merchants Fleet Headquarters in Hooksett, NH (Hybrid)

What You’ll Do:

• Partner with Finance Operations and FP&A teams to define reporting and data need
• Explore and integrate data across systems to support real-world financial use cases
• Design scalable data models aligned with reporting and forecasting goals
• Build intuitive dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar tools
• Collaborate with data engineering to access and transform source data
• Ensure consistency, clarity, and accuracy across data layers
• Create documentation that promotes transparency and a shared understanding of data
• Act as a trusted analytics advisor to key finance stakeholders

What You Bring:

• 5+ years of experience in BI development or analytics engineering with a focus on financial or operational data
• Expertise in SQL, Snowflake, and Power BI (or equivalent BI tools)
• Strong understanding of financial concepts (forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis)
• Experience designing semantic layers and data models for business use
• Excellent communication skills—able to explain technical solutions to non-technical users
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Matillion, Databricks, SSIS)
• Familiarity with data governance platforms, especially Atlan, is a plus
• Background in finance, accounting, or economics is a strong advantage

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Data Engineering, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related technical field
  • A business degree (Finance, MBA, etc.) is a plus
