To provide specialist advice & support in the development & implementation of data modelling addressing problems on systems integration, compatibility and multi platforms.

Job Description

To design, develop, and optimize Power BI dashboards and data models that transform banking data into actionable insights. The role focuses on advanced DAX, efficient data modelling, and integration with enterprise data sources (via SQL/ODBC) to enable reliable reporting, performance management, and decision-making.

Power BI Development & Data Modelling

  • Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards aligned to business needs.

  • Build efficient semantic models (star schema, optimized relationships, reusable measures).

  • Write advanced DAX measures for complex analytical and business logic.

  • Optimize report performance (model design, query efficiency, refresh cycles).

  • Implement row-level security (RLS) and enforce access controls.

Data Access, Reporting & Analytics

  • Connect to enterprise data sources using SQL and ODBC; leverage curated datasets and existing platforms.

  • Perform light data transformation using Power Query and validate data accuracy across sources.

  • Deliver standardized and ad-hoc reporting to support performance tracking and decision-making.

  • Translate business requirements into scalable dashboards and intuitive visualizations.

  • Automate reporting and resolve data discrepancies at the reporting layer.

Governance, Stakeholder Enablement & AI

  • Ensure consistency of KPIs, definitions, and governance within reporting outputs.

  • Identify and escalate data quality issues observed during analysis.

  • Act as Power BI SME; support users and drive self-service analytics adoption.

  • Engage stakeholders to refine requirements and continuously improve dashboards.

  • Explore AI-enabled analytics (e.g., Copilot, natural language queries, business chat dashboards) to enhance insight generation and user experience.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

  • 3+ years’ experience in BI / Power BI development.

  • Experience in banking or financial services preferred.

  • Strong expertise in:

    • Power BI (data modelling, reporting, publishing)

    • DAX (advanced calculations and optimisation)

    • SQL (data querying, joins, aggregations)

    • Data connectivity (ODBC, enterprise platforms)

  • Good understanding of banking data domains (customers, accounts, transactions).

  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving capability.

  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, business-focused insights.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

  • Interest in leveraging AI to enhance reporting and analytics.

Education

Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Physical, Mathematical, Computer and Life Sciences (Required)
