Business Domain Data Steward | Pune, India| Full-time

Your Role:

As a Data Steward within the Project Execution domain, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality, trustworthy data is available to the right stakeholders at the right time. This role combines technical expertise with business understanding and offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with fellow Data Stewards, data engineers, data modelers, visualization specialists, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders across the Vanderlande Data Ecosystem.

You will be responsible for identifying data sources, maintaining data mappings within the data catalog, and validating, accepting, and governing data products that support analytics and business insights.

What you will do/Key Responsibilities:

Data Governance (30%)

  • Define, maintain, optimize, enforce, and monitor data policies, processes, procedures, and business rules across the Sell & Deliver Value Chain.
  • Contribute to the overall data governance strategy, including policies and guiding principles.
  • Support the Sell & Deliver Data Team with structured data management approaches, including data-to-source mapping and data assessments.
  • Define and align fit-for-purpose data delivery requirements with Product Managers, Analytics teams, and Business Domain Owners.
  • Participate in the Data Steward community led by the Executive Data Steward to ensure cross-domain alignment.
  • Collaborate with Data Stewards across other business domains to align business rules and governance standards.
  • Maintain business metadata and data dictionaries within Microsoft Purview.
  • Own and manage domain-specific data products, including authorizations and access management.

Data Quality Management (50%)

  • Oversee data streams and datasets within the business domain and coordinate improvements with other domain Data Stewards through the Data Governance Council.
  • Define data quality acceptance criteria, critical data elements, KPIs, and corresponding quality targets.
  • Implement workflows, monitoring mechanisms, and data quality KPIs aligned with the Vanderlande Data Ecosystem vision.
  • Support internal data consumers in investigating and resolving data-related issues end-to-end.
  • Drive timely and cost-effective resolution of data quality issues while considering agreed service levels between Central Analytics and business domains.
  • Implement and manage end-to-end data quality checks across all data products within the Sell & Deliver scope.
  • Proactively investigate and resolve data quality issues in Databricks environments.
  • Manage data pipelines and authorizations supporting dashboards and downstream applications.

Data Exploration & Enablement (20%)

  • Support the development and enhancement of Business Data Products and Source Data Products in collaboration with the Central Data & Analytics Organization (CDAO) and the Sell & Deliver Data Team.
  • Perform data-to-source mapping activities together with the CDAO Data Modelling Team and subject matter experts.
  • Identify and implement innovative approaches for data quality validation within the Project Execution domain.
  • Ensure the Data Product Catalog remains updated and aligned with evolving business requirements.
  • Promote data literacy and awareness across Vanderlande Service operations.

What you bring:

  • Overall 8-10 years of experience, 3–5 years of experience in Data & Analytics.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills across data producers, architects, engineers, and consumers.
  • Exposure to or strong affinity with Service Domain operations in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with Data Governance, Data Modelling, Data Analytics, and/or Data Visualization.
  • Familiarity with tools and platforms such as:
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Databricks & Unity Catalog
    • Microsoft Purview
    • Power BI
    • Qlik Sense
    • SAFe Agile
    • DevOps
  • Beginner to intermediate proficiency in SQL and Python/PySpark.
  • Ability to quickly understand business processes within Life Cycle Service Delivery and related Vanderlande domains.
  • Strong awareness of data consumers, personas, and business needs.
  • Ability to proactively improve data literacy within the organization.
