Job Description

The purpose of this role is to solicit external customer enquiries and support the response, liaising with internal managers, interfacing with the customer at stages of the bidding process including negotiations, and supporting with the handover of successful proposals to nominated Project Managers

  • Help the Business Development Executive engage and then support the response to third party tenders by liaising with internal managers from relevant business units, and a range of departments and disciplines.
  • To liaise and support the Business Development Executive, from enquiry receipt through to proposal submission, and subsequent negotiations.
  • To make appropriate/accompanied visits to the customer's premises, including other premises and attend events that are pertinent to the creation of a successful proposal/relationship.
  • To work with the commercial team ensuring that all responses to information requests contained within the tender documentation comply with internal policies and work practices.
  • Be involved in evaluating external enquiries in terms of market demand and trends and take consideration of all risks contained within the customer enquiry and highlight areas for immediate consideration.
  • Support the Business Development Executive and the Commercial Proposals Manager during the proposal process, supporting Senior Management's information requirements and the development of commercial, financial and technical risk assessment models.
  • To liaise with the Commercial and Finance functions during and after the proposal process, supporting information requirements pertaining to the development of a pricing model.
  • Attend/support proposal review meetings on an as needs basis and present progress on the proposal to date.

Qualifications

Essential

Degree or equivalent (preferably in Engineering)

Desirable

Sound practical knowledge of developing engineering proposals and contracts

Budgets and financial controls

Project management awareness

Member of Relevant Professional Institute

Demonstrable experience in sales
