About the role:

Leap is seeking a highly motivated and results-driven Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our growing team. As a BDR, you will play a crucial role in driving our sales pipeline by identifying and engaging potential brand customers, nurturing leads, and setting up qualified business opportunities for our sales team. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of Leap’s expansion and build relationships with key decision-makers in the retail space. This individual is a goal-oriented, curious, and data-driven person who will drive awareness and interest from modern brands to our Platform. 
This role is leveled as an L2.
Location:
This role will report to the Manager, Business Development based out of New York. We support a hybrid office culture, with the expectation to be in the office 3 days a week.
Key responsibilities:

  • Lead Generation & Outreach: Identify and engage prospective retail clients across key growth categories (fashion, apparel, jewelry, footwear, accessories, home, beauty, etc).
  • Qualifying Leads: Conduct initial discovery calls to understand potential customers' pain points, needs, and readiness to scale retail leveraging the Leap platform. Deliver qualified brand opportunities to the growth team.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date data for all prospects and accounts in our CRM, while ensuring follow-ups and next steps are executed effectively.
  • Collaboration with Sales & Marketing: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to refine messaging, improve targeting, and optimize outreach strategies.
  • Market Research: Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer pain points to effectively position Leap’s value proposition. Be informed on real estate transactions and retail openings to target relevant brands. 
  • Performance Metrics: Meet and exceed targets for outreach activity, meetings scheduled, and qualified leads generated.

Desired experience and attributes:
  • 1-3 years of sales experience (preferably in retail tech, real estate, consumer B2B).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build rapport with potential customers.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and eager to contribute to a fast-growing company.
  • Ability to handle objections, problem-solve, and think strategically about customer needs.
  • Experience using CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce, HubSpot,) and sales engagement platforms (Outreach.io, etc) is a plus.
  • Tenacious and goal-oriented - a plus if you have proven experience in successfully being held accountable to a goal-set sales environment, business development, corporate relationship management or account management.
  • Strong high-level working knowledge of modern emerging brands, retail, and e-commerce industry landscapes.


Outcomes & measures of success:

  • Efficiently and effectively seed, develop, and land business with targeted brands, which translates to successful execution of stores on the Leap Platform.
  • Position Leap as the leading “Retail-as-a-Service” Platform in the marketplace with respect to brands and key industry partners.


Salary Range Transparency

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $70,000-$80,000. This role is commission-eligible with on-target earnings up to 100% of salary. All corporate roles are eligible for annual cash bonuses and equity awards based upon performance and other factors. Actual compensation offered may vary depending on skill level and experience.
