ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you'll be one of the first points of contact between Axiom and some of the world's leading companies. Your goal: create meaningful conversations with prospective clients and generate qualified opportunities for our sales team.
This is a hybrid role based at Axiom’s headquarters at 175 W. Jackson Blvd. in Chicago, with in-office days Tuesday through Thursday and work-from-home days on Monday and Friday.
The BDR position is Axiom’s entry-level sales role and serves as the talent pool for our Mid-Market Account Executive team. It’s ideal for ambitious individuals eager to build a successful career in B2B sales by learning how to research sophisticated prospects, conduct thoughtful, high-quality outreach, and create opportunities with senior decision-makers.
You'll receive hands-on training and coaching, strong mentorship, all while working closely with Account Executives to develop pipeline and support Axiom's continued growth.
REPSONSIBILITIES
- Identify opportunities: Research target companies, senior decision-makers, and potential legal needs.
- Drive strategic outreach: Engage prospects through thoughtful cold calls, personalized emails, and other outbound channels.
- Qualify and create pipeline: Uncover business challenges and turn strong prospects into qualified meetings for the sales team.
- Partner with Account Executives: Align on target accounts, prospecting strategies, and follow-up.
- Own your pipeline: Keep prospect activity and follow-up organized, maintain accurate CRM records, and ensure opportunities don't fall through the cracks.
- Deliver against goals: Work toward clear activity, meeting, and pipeline targets while continuously looking for ways to improve your results.
- Build your sales skills: Apply coaching and feedback to strengthen your prospecting, discovery, communication, and objection handling.
WHAT SETS OUR BDR TEAM APART
- A Fast Track to Account Executive
We see the BDR role as a launchpad, not a destination. High-performing BDRs can progress into an Account Executive role in as soon as 12 months, giving you a clear path to take on greater responsibility, own client relationships, and continue building your sales career at Axiom.
- Competitive Compensation That Rewards Performance
In addition to competitive base pay and strong bonus potential, BDRs can exceed their target earnings by outperforming goals and tapping into accelerators. SPIFFs and other short-term incentives offer even more opportunities to be rewarded for strong performance, keeping success exciting along the way.
- A Culture Where People Win Together
Sales is competitive, but success at Axiom isn't a solo effort. Our BDR culture is rooted in collaboration, teamwork, and genuine connection - whether that's sharing what's working, celebrating each other's wins, learning from one another, or spending time together outside of the day-to-day. You'll be surrounded by teammates who want to perform at a high level and help each other succeed.
REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- 0-2+ years of professional sales/business development experience is welcome but not required. Relevant internships, campus leadership, or other customer-facing experiences will also be considered.
- A confident communicator who knows how to turn a cold introduction into a meaningful conversation.
- Comfortable making cold calls, writing personalized outreach, and engaging senior professionals.
- Desire to build a long-term career in sales
- Strong research skills and the ability to turn information about a company or prospect into relevant messaging.
- Clear verbal and written communication, strong listening skills, and confidence asking thoughtful questions.
- Organized and disciplined with follow-up, pipeline management, and accurate CRM documentation.

- Able to work from our downtown Chicago office Tuesday through Thursday.
