We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager who is excited by the opportunity to bring new technologies to market. In this pivotal role, you’ll help define our commercial strategy, build deep customer relationships, and translate our cutting-edge innovation into real-world impact, laying the foundations for Nomad Atomics’ long-term growth and success.

The role 

As Business Development Manager, you’ll help drive the commercial success of our company. In this early-stage environment, you’ll wear many hats – business development, marketing, sales, partnerships – and help guide the company through the critical phase of product-market fit discovery, go-to-market execution, and early customer adoption. 

You’ll be the bridge between our internal teams and the external market, working closely with our scientific, engineering, operations, and executive teams to identify and grow high-value opportunities across multiple industries. 

Under the broad direction of the Head of Business Development your key responsibilities are: 

Market discovery and strategic insights 

  • Conduct targeted market research and environmental scanning to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and priority segments. 
  • Support the mapping of market segments, customer landscapes, and stakeholder ecosystems to identify and prioritise high-potential opportunities. 
  • Contribute to pricing, positioning, and market-entry strategies through structured analysis and on-the-ground insights. 
  • Synthesize customer feedback, market intelligence, and internal learnings to inform business development priorities and planning. 

Customer engagement and commercial validation 

  • Engage directly with customers and prospects to understand operational challenges, validate use cases, and test value propositions. 
  • Build and progress a pipeline of qualified opportunities, including pilots and early-stage projects to demonstrate capability and gather feedback. 
  • Develop tailored proposals and commercial approaches aligned to customer needs and project context. 
  • Collaborate with technical and product teams to translate customer requirements into clear inputs for development and delivery. 
  • Capture and communicate field insights to continuously refine messaging, positioning, and product-market fit. 

Sales, partnerships, and revenue generation 

  • Own and progress sales opportunities from early engagement through to proposal and contract signing. 
  • Execute outbound and account-based sales activities to generate and qualify leads across target segments. 
  • Identify and support the development of strategic partnerships to expand market access and strengthen value propositions. 
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data, track opportunity progress, and contribute to forecasting and reporting. 
  • Support the transition from sale to delivery, ensuring clear handover and feedback loops into future opportunities. 

Stakeholder engagement and external relations 

  • Represent the company in customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and networking forums. 
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across industry, including technical users, influencers, and decision-makers. 
  • Contribute to increasing company visibility through participation in events, content, and industry engagement. 
  • Support coordination with international teams and partners to align on opportunities and market approach. 

Leadership and teamwork 

  • Operate as a proactive and reliable member of the Business Development Team, contributing to team goals and culture. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with technical, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment between customer needs and delivery. 
  • Support the development and improvement of business development processes, tools, and ways of working. 
  • Contribute to funding, tender, and proposal efforts where relevant to strategic opportunities. 
  • Demonstrate ownership of tasks and outcomes, balancing independent execution with strong team collaboration.

Requirements

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in business development, partnerships, or commercial roles, ideally within a technical or science-led environment. 
  • Exposure to B2B sales and/or business development in industries such as mining, energy, infrastructure, or related sectors. 
  • A track record of contributing to new opportunity development, including identifying leads and supporting early commercial traction. 
  • Strong communication skills across written, verbal, and presentation formats. 
  • Confidence engaging in external meetings and supporting commercial discussions, including proposals and partnership conversations. 
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving environment, with an understanding of how startups or growth-stage companies work. 
  • Ability to develop clear, high-quality proposals, presentations, and customer-facing materials. 
  • Experience in mining or resources is advantageous, with a background in geology, geophysics, or earth sciences highly regarded.
