JOB TITLE:                                      Business Development Manager

                                            

  RESPONSIBLE TO:                       Country Manger UK


MAIN LOCATION:                          Amsterdam, but post holder may be required to  visit other sites or customer locations as part of their role and responsibilities as well as the occasional customer entertainments and events

Objective:

As a Business Development Manager, you will identify new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow, building strategic partnerships, driving revenue generation for the company and identifying new opportunities to increase sales. You will play a crucial role in expanding the organisation's market presence, fostering relationships with clients, and developing innovative strategies to meet sales targets and objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct market research and identify new business opportunities across Europe – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships or establish new ways of reaching out to existing and new markets.
  • Analyse data to understand customer needs, industry trends and competitive landscapes.
  • Identify potential markets, industries and segments for business expansion.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and revenue.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align business objectives with market demands.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure long-term satisfaction and retention.
  • Address customer enquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Follow up on sales activities and keep records of customer interactions. Regular communication with prospects, set up and lead new business meetings with current and prospective portfolio.
  • Understand client needs and preferences to be able to communicate to the business so appropriate solutions can be explored to meet these requirements.
  • Stay up-to-date with product knowledge, features, and benefits to effectively communicate value propositions to customers.
  • Collaborate with the sales team, marketing, and other departments to optimise sales efforts.
  • Prepare and submit sales reports, forecasts, and market intelligence to the Sales Director or relevant stakeholders.
  • Set and achieve sales targets and objectives on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Build a healthy pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Be responsible for a new business target
  • Take ownership of and manage tender processes, as well as requests for quotations prospects, in collaboration with relevant departments and management team
  • Oversee the onboarding of new products and new customers (where required)

Essential Skills:

  • Previous experience in new business sales.
  • Strong Account Management, interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Solid new business experience
  • Experience in CRM
  • A positive, pro-active, go-get-um attitude
  • Customer centric
  • Highly self-motivated
  • Experience in eCommerce logistics desired
  • Written and verbal communication skills - needed for communicating with a range of people, both internally and externally, as well as presentation skills
  • A flexible approach to work with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Additional Requirements: 

  • In addition to the responsibilities listed above the post holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by the Senior Management Team from time-to-time. Subject to adequate experience and/or training.
  • To participate in the annual performance appraisal process and objective scheme.
  • To work in accordance with all APG policies including Health and Safety, Employment, Staff, Quality and Environmental.
  • To adhere to company wide information security policies, as outlined and agreed within the first month of employment.
  • It’s important during the employment with APG and anytime thereafter that any information relating to APG is treated with the strictest confidentiality.
