Business Development Manager

Overview

The Business Development Manager drives profitable growth for Knowles by helping customers understand and integrate high-performance supercapacitor solutions for MedTech, Aerospace/Defense, Industrial, and Electrification applications. This role combines technical application support with consultative selling to secure new business and support customers from initial design through production.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business and grow existing OEM and distributor accounts by identifying customer needs and pursuing supercapacitor design opportunities.
  • Coordinate electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements into product recommendations, partnering with Knowles and customer engineering.
  • Understand customer needs and guide customers through solution selection, prototyping, evaluation, qualification, and transition to production.
  • Deliver technical presentations and product training to customers, distributors, and manufacturers' representatives.
  • Prepare quotations and technical proposals, and negotiate commercial terms within established pricing and approval guidelines.
  • Partner with engineering, product management, quality, and operations to resolve application issues and support customer commitments.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, account plans, opportunity pipelines, and sales forecasts to achieve revenue and design-win objectives.
  • Share customer feedback, competitive insights, and emerging application needs to inform product development and sales strategy.
  • Represent Knowles at customer meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Approximately 25% travel.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Strong consultative selling, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to build relationships with engineering and purchasing teams.
  • 5+ years’ experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or customer-facing engineering within electronic components or electronics manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of supercapacitor technologies is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret technical datasheets, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Sound commercial judgment and proficiency with CRM systems, sales forecasting, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Responsive customer service, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple opportunities while collaborating across departments.

We are committed to providing a competitive and fair total compensation package for all employees.


One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting base pay for this role is $90,000 to $120,000 per year.


Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining us, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range. We recognize that the person(s) we select for hire may be less experienced or more experienced than the role as posted; if this is the case, any updates to available salary ranges will be communicated with candidates during the recruitment process.
