Position Summary

SkillsUSA Texas is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Business Development Manager with a strong background in Human Resources to expand partnerships, strengthen workforce pipelines, and drive sustainable growth across the state. This role will bridge industry engagement and talent development, leveraging philanthropy expertise to align educational programming with workforce needs. The ideal candidate will cultivate partnerships, support event sponsorships, and assist in recruiting and retaining industry volunteers and professionals to support SkillsUSA Texas programs.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Partnerships (60%)

  • Identify and cultivate new sponsorships, partnerships, and in-kind contributions from industry and workforce stakeholders.
  • Create and present customized sponsorship proposals and impact reports.
  • Manage partner relationships, ensuring deliverables and recognition are fulfilled.
  • Represent SkillsUSA Texas at conferences, expos, and regional events to promote partnership opportunities.
  • Track and analyze ROI of partnership initiatives to inform growth strategy.

Event & Stakeholder Logistics (30%)

  • Recruit and manage state conference judges, technical committee members, and industry volunteers.
  • Collaborate with event management staff to ensure judge assignments, credentialing, and hospitality logistics are executed efficiently.
  • Coordinate stakeholder involvement in key events, including onsite support, communications, and follow-up.
  • Maintain updated databases for judges, partners, and volunteers.

Organizational Support & Reporting (10%)

  • Maintain accurate partnership and volunteer records in the CRM system.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support strategic goals, fundraising campaigns, and organizational growth.
  • Contribute to reports, marketing collateral, and grant applications as needed.
  • Assist with budgeting, planning, and tracking of partnership-related expenses and revenues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in business development, event logistics, nonprofit management, or workforce/education partnerships.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Event experience including recruitment, hospitality, and logistics coordination preferred.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace tools.
  • Ability to travel statewide and work flexible hours, especially during major events.
  • Familiarity with SkillsUSA or other student leadership/CTE programs is a plus.

  • Ability to travel within Texas and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Familiarity with SkillsUSA or similar student leadership organizations is a plus.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in business development, event logistics, nonprofit management, or workforce/education partnerships.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, HR, workforce development, or nonprofit leadership.
  • Proven track record in partnership cultivation and relationship management.
