Your opportunity

As a Business Development Manager, you'll help drive growth by supporting the implementation of service line strategies, originating new business opportunities, and enabling partners to build and convert high-value relationships and connect clients with the full breadth of Grant Thornton's capability.

You'll collaborate across service lines and the broader Marketing Operations, Revenue Operations, Clients & Strategic Projects teams to bring insights, campaigns, sales activity and client opportunities together, ensuring we maximise growth opportunities for both our clients and the firm.

Your responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of service line growth priorities working closely with National Managing Partners and Local Service Line Leaders.
  • Provide 1-1 coaching to partners reinforcing sales best practices aligned to firmwide training programs.
  • Analyse market trends, client needs and competitor activity to identify emerging growth opportunities.
  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities across priority industries, markets and client segments. 
  • Develop and execute targeted outreach to originate meetings. Support partners through the sales cycle to converts leads into qualified opportunities.
  • Actively participate in opportunity and pipeline discussions, helping teams maintain focus on high-value growth opportunities.
  • Promote the effective use of CRM and sales technology tools
  • Develop proposals and pitch presentations where required. You are supported by a dedicated bids & proposals team to manage capacity and drive best practice.
  • Provide strategic input to campaigns ensuring prospects and leads are effectively targeted and nurtured. Build and execute sales outreach strategies related to campaigns to convert marketing activity into opportunity.
  • Lead and develop Marketing & Business Development Executives, balancing workloads across service line priorities and campaigns, coaching on business development best practice and creating meaningful opportunities for learning and career development.

About you

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in business development, B2B sales or client management. Professional services experience highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and progressing new business opportunities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an ability to recognise growth opportunities across clients, sectors and service offerings.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills and is comfortable working with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience using CRM and sales enablement tools.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across service lines, marketing and client-facing teams.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
