The DS Smith Sales team are a dynamic and vibrant mix of professionals who focus on delivering the Sales strategy, goals and performance whilst working to delight our customers by showcasing our sustainable and innovative packaging solutions. From our energetic Business Development Team who create opportunities, to our incredible Account Managers who build & strengthen relationships with Global Brands, the Sales team are the face of our business and our biggest ambassadors!
We have an exciting opportunity for a pro-active and driven individual to join as a Business Development Manager for the UK Central Packaging Division. This a key position within the business so looking for an ambitious, customer focused individual to come and be part of this amazing team!
Working across the wider packaging teams (both in the UK and Europe) and liaising with the other Sales Mangers, you will use your input and autonomy to transform the role in line with our growth strategy. This is a true Business Development role, and whilst there is a small amount of account management required, there is admin support to aid with this.
As a strong sales professional and a natural ‘people-person’, you will thrive on networking with existing and potential customers to bring in new business across the organisation. Your experience within the packaging industry means you will be building strong working relations within various markets such as Drinks, Snacks and wider FMCG markets. You will be home-based but there is a strong focus on travelling to meet customers and meeting teams at our sites across the country.

About you
- Proven success, knowledge, and experience in Business Development role within FMCG– packaging experience desirable but will welcome experience in other areas
- A Full driving license
- A strong ability to work independently & remotely with travel as needed
- Strong business acumen and negotiation skills with the ability to deal with conflict and challenge both externally and internally
- Driven to meet sales targets
- Proven success, knowledge, and experience with pipeline management and sales reporting
- Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders around the business
- Ability to deliver dynamic & professional presentations

Location: This is a full-time, home-based role with frequent travel to our customers (nationally)
