Whom are we looking for?
To support and enhance our fast growth in the UK, we are looking for a Business Development Manager to drive business growth, identify new opportunities, and expand Ampowr's market share in the battery storage sector. You will be working hybrid in a small 4 people-team in our office located in the stunning Alderley Edge area and report directly to the Managing Director.
To be successful in this role you are expected to:
- Identify and qualify new C&I BESS opportunities through outbound prospecting, inbound enquiries,
and event follow-up - Maintain and develop the CRM pipeline, ensuring records are accurate and up to date
- Produce initial proposals and supporting materials in collaboration with the energy analyst
- Support the Senior BDM and MD in preparing for and following up on customer meetings
- Develop knowledge of the UK BESS market, regulatory landscape, and competitive environment
- Build relationships at energy manager and facilities management level within target accounts
- Coordinate tender and bid submissions, ensuring deadlines are met
- Represent the company at relevant networking events and exhibitions
Essential experience & skills
• 2+ years B2B sales or business development experience, ideally in energy or a related sector
• Proactive, organised, and comfortable managing a high volume of contacts and leads
• Clear written and verbal communication skills — able to produce professional proposals and
correspondence
• CRM proficiency (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar)
• A genuine interest in clean energy and the C&I decarbonisation market
Desirable experience & skills
• Experience in energy supply, efficiency, renewables, or EV charging
• Basic understanding of C&I energy costs, demand charges, and half-hourly metering
• Familiarity with UK government schemes relevant to business energy (e.g. Smart Export Guarantee,
EV infrastructure grants)

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, renewable energy, or related field
- 5+ years experience in business development, sales, or related roles within the battery storage or renewable energy industry
- Strong knowledge of battery storage technologies, market dynamics, and industry trends
- Proficiency in CRM software and sales analytics tools
- Demonstrated ability to identify and secure business opportunities and meet/exceed targets
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
- Financial acumen for margin understanding
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and policies affecting the battery storage industry
