Overview
The German Services Business Development team is looking for a Business Development Manager, Retail & Commerce to further grow and expand our footprint in the Retail and Commerce Industry in Germany.
Role
Responsible for driving the growth of Mastercard's Services business across strategic Retail & Commerce target accounts by identifying new revenue opportunities, building executive-level relationships, and commercialising innovative data-driven solutions. Acts as a trusted advisor to client stakeholders, helping them accelerate growth through Customer Analytics, Loyalty, Personalisation, Retail Media, Customer Engagement, and Digital Commerce capabilities.
Key responsibilities include: • Develop and execute a growth strategy across a prospect portfolio of Retail & Commerce clients, with accountability for revenue, pipeline, and new business generation • Identify, originate, and convert new business opportunities through proactive client engagement and consultative selling • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders, including C-suite, commercial, marketing, digital, data, and customer experience leaders • Position Mastercard as a strategic growth partner by leveraging the full Services portfolio, including Data & Analytics, Loyalty, Personalisation, Customer Engagement, Retail Media, and Security Solutions • Lead complex commercial discussions and negotiate enterprise-wide agreements across multiple stakeholder groups • Drive cross- and upselling initiatives to maximise client value, deepen relationships, and accelerate long-term account growth • Collaborate closely with Product, Consulting, Customer Success, and Account Management teams to deliver measurable business outcomes for clients • Translating client challenges into commercially viable solutions that generate tangible and quantifiable business impact • Continuously expand market presence, strengthen industry networks, and identify emerging growth opportunities across the Retail & Commerce ecosystem
The ideal candidate has:• Deep expertise in driving growth across Retail & Commerce clients through consultative selling of data-driven, digital, and marketing technology solutions • Strong hunter mentality with a proven ability to create demand, unlock new opportunities, and build executive-level relationships within complex enterprise environments • Experience commercializing solutions across Data & Analytics, Customer Engagement, Loyalty, Personalization, Retail Media, and Digital Commerce ecosystems • Commercially astute and results-driven professional with a strong bias for execution, accountability, and delivering measurable business impact • Track record of accelerating account growth through strategic cross-selling, upselling, and long-term value creation • Trusted relationship builder who develops enduring client partnerships and is recognized as a go-to advisor for strategic and commercial discussions • Bachelor degree (post-graduate degree / MBA preferred) • Fluency in German and English is a must • Ability to travel frequently
