Job DescriptionABOUT YOUR ROLE:
As the Business Development Manager role, you will drive leading/hipo brand owners’ (EU: End Users) development pipeline and streamline the value chain to realize the sales by influencing EU decision process, including but not limited to: acting as Pressure Sensitive Label (PSL) material selection consultant, solving dispensing or PSL application problem, providing value added service based on the understanding of EU’s business priority and strategy, sustainability thought leadership.
In addition to that, you will provide business strategy based on research studies and mobilize the sales to work together to realize these business opportunities. Understanding and scoping the value chain ecosystem, new growth segments and new innovations needed in the area will be critical for the role to be successful.
Within 6 months, I expect to see a priority application and list of focus EUs to start with, and a business plan together with ecosystem engagement (including Bottler, OEM, dispenser, converters) in the scope to provide a framework of how to accelerate China business and position improvement.
I expect within 12 months, you could already behave as a segment expert in AD to observe and capture segment trends to generate insights or unfulfilled needs by understanding the EU and value chain which could lead our Product Manager for innovation and drive business together with Sales.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
Through interaction with brand owners, this role can clearly understand industry trends, form industry insights which are related to the package, especially labels, and pass them on to relevant departments within the company. then influence the company strategy.
Work with the design team, package team, procurement etc. of brand owners (End Users) to successfully spec-in or influence brand owners to qualify Avery Dennison’s material in their end product drawing.
Partner with the sales team and converters (customers) to realize the business as well as streamline continuous supply of material to EUs-led projects.
Develop Business plan and implement Segment Development initiative.
Timely resolution of EU or ecosystem (bottler, OEM etc) complaints and cases not resolved by sales or quality consult team. Assess EUs needs in order to recommend appropriate products/services. Investigate new applications or improvements to products with customers.
Create and update focused application strategy and product offering by working with Product Manager and coordinate and drive execution.
Increase Avery Dennison influence by ecosystem partnership and advocate sustainability and innovation of Avery Dennison.
Business Development for new product, new application innovation and new business model from conceptual level to business realization which includes early analysis, assessment and sharpening value proposition, application based product creation with product manager and R&D, streamline internal process while it is new to the company.
Key metrics: EU led opportunities sales realization, opportunity pipeline size, Advantage service delivery, business quality of sales realization (GP%), assessable business (including AD business) mapping in ecosystem, sustainability/innovation leads.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Basic English reading capability for internal documents and systems.
Experience in direct brand owner management (sales or customer-facing) or related industry preferred.
Strong customer/market focus with an open and innovative mindset to propose new ideas.
Proven ability to drive action and execution.
Track record of building and maintaining strong customer relationships.
9+ years of related technical or product management experience preferred.
Industry experience in Home Care & Personal Care preferred.
Strategic thinking and market analysis capabilities.
