The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth and expanding market share for sales within an assigned territory. This role establishes strong end‑user relationships through consultative selling to guide customers and accelerate adoption across all channels. By building and managing a robust sales funnel, the BDM leverages CRM tools for accurate forecasting, disciplined account management, and consistent KPI achievement. This position identifies key decision makers and influencers to advance sales opportunities and convert specifications, while using technical product expertise to educate customers, promote new solutions, recommend upgrades, and align MRO strategy with customer needs to maximize value and long‑term business growth.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for driving revenue growth and increased market share for retrofit sales within an assigned territory.
  • Establish end-user relationships via consultative sales methods to guide customers along their preferred path of purchase and effectively drive retrofit business growth across all channels.
  • Build and manage an ambitious sales funnel, leveraging CRM for account management, forecasting, daily work, and next step actions; ensuring KPIs are met and accurately tracked.
  • Identify key decision makers and influencers of the decision-making process to drive the sale and/or spec conversion. 
  • Leverage technical product expertise to educate on new products, recommend spec upgrades, and align customer needs to the benefits of ZE products. 

Education and Experince

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or equivalent industry experience required; Advanced degree a plus.
  • 5 years business development / account management experience with B2B.  Industry exposure to Plumbing, Construction, Home Improvement, or startups a plus.
  • Knowledge of direct manufacturing sales, 2-step distribution (retail / wholesale), rep agencies, and their related materials purchasing pathways is essential
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the time within the territory (SW PA/NJ/NYC/S CT)
