Department: Business Development - Engineering
Direct Supervisor: General Manager
Experience Required: Minimum 7 to 12 Years (Early Career: Technical Engineering | Later: Business Development & Sales)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mandatory); MBA or Master's Preferred
The Business Development Manager (BDM) at an engineering company is a rare hybrid professional — one who combines a solid engineering foundation with advanced commercial acumen and strategic sales leadership. This is not a conventional sales role; it is a technically informed growth mandate that requires the candidate to speak the language of engineers, understand the complexity of engineering deliverables, and translate that understanding into compelling value propositions for clients operating in demanding industrial and infrastructure environments.
The candidate is expected to have spent their early career years (approximately 0–7 years) in technical and field engineering roles, developing a thorough understanding of how engineering projects are designed, executed, and delivered. In their later career years (7–12 years), the candidate should have progressively transitioned into customer-facing, sales, and business development roles — actively winning engineering contracts, managing key accounts, and building the commercial pipeline.
The ultimate purpose of this role is to grow the company's engineering revenue, expand its client base across key industrial sectors, and position the organization as the partner of choice for engineering services — whether EPC, consultancy, inspection, design, or specialized technical solutions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•Identify and evaluate new market opportunities across sectors including real estate development , urban development , Project Management Team , Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, Power & Utilities, Industrial Manufacturing, Water Treatment, and Construction.
•Conduct structured market intelligence — analysing competitor positioning, client spending plans, regulatory shifts, and upcoming project pipelines to prioritize BD efforts.
•Map out key decision-makers (Technical Directors, Project Managers, Procurement Heads, C-Suite) within target client organizations and develop strategic engagement plans.
•Lead geographic or sector expansion initiatives, including entry into new regions, countries, or project types aligned with the company's engineering capabilities.
