Raytheon ELCAN is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our global Business Development team. This strategic customer focused role will report to the Associate Director, Business Development in Canada.

Raytheon ELCAN is a Canadian optics innovation center that specializes in advanced optical solutions. The center is dedicated to helping customers see better and farther, enabling them to overcome the most demanding challenges across various domains. Raytheon ELCAN focuses on providing high-quality optical systems that enhance visual capabilities, ensuring superior performance in complex and challenging environments.

In this role, you will be part of a matrixed team that drives new standards of quality, innovation, and performance in the global electro-optics market. Your established network and knowledge of the market, along with an understanding of customer needs and expectations, will be crucial in leading integrated proposal teams to deliver winning proposals. You will contribute to a growing, culture-focused environment where collaboration and excellence are paramount.

Possible Work Locations: Nationwide within proximity of an airport.

Ability to travel 1-2 weeks a month within the US

What You Will Do

In this role, you will be responsible for several key functions aimed at driving business growth and maintaining strong customer relationships within the aerospace and defense sectors. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Growing and maintaining a pipeline of new and follow-on opportunities with both existing and new aerospace and defense companies.
  • Learning, maintaining, and updating the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool as needed to ensure accurate and current information.
  • Assisting with the development of business development annual strategic plans and growth strategies, including conducting market analysis, competitor analysis, and customer budget profiling.
  • Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships, as well as an active network within U.S. Defense and Aerospace prime contractors.
  • Leading bid development and proposal generation, including preparing and presenting gate presentations.
  • Supporting potential strategic partnerships for the business, whether as a prime contractor or subcontractor.
  • Effectively using standardized business development processes to vet opportunities and lead pursuits.
  • Developing a deep understanding of customer needs, competitor activities, and market dynamics within your assigned market sub-segment.
  • Creating and implementing strategies and actions to identify, develop, and qualify profitable new business opportunities that contribute to the growth of Raytheon ELCAN.
  • Developing and implementing multi-level and multi-dimensional customer contact plans.
  • Applying consultative selling techniques to better understand customer desires and working with ELCAN Business Development, Program Management, and Engineering teams to create customer-centric solutions.
  • Developing a prioritized pipeline of opportunities to ensure focus on high-potential areas.
  • Developing methods to understand and communicate price-to-win and market price analysis.
  • The position will require mainly domestic travel, with some international travel as needed to support business development activities.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring Raytheon ELCAN continues to excel in delivering high-quality, innovative solutions in the electro-optics market.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advance Degree in a related field and a minimum of 6 experience.
  • Experience in marketing, business management, or business development.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining customer and internal stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining annual and long-range booking forecasts.
  • Experience in identifying, creating, developing, qualifying, and winning new business opportunities.
  • Experience working with DoD-related government customers.
  • Established network with US Defense and Aerospace industry customers.
  • Ability to identify and develop relationships with strategic partners.
  • Ability to work with other Internal leaders in developing new business and/or expanding into new markets.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program / contract.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
