The Surveillance and Targeting Business Unit within the Intelligence Systems Division of the Northrop Grumman Space Sector has an opening for a Business Development Manager 3 to join our Business Development team.
The Business Development Manager position is a strategic and high visibility opportunity, reporting directly to the Business Unit Business Development Director as part of the growth-oriented and customer-focused BU leadership team. The Business Development Manager is responsible for implementing business development processes across market segments and operating units to keep current programs sold and drive additional growth, as well as collaborating across the company to help define, coordinate and integrate synergistic business strategies.
The role is based at the Linthicum, MD campus.
This position plays a critical role in leading the development and execution of end‑to‑end business‑development strategies that generate new revenue opportunities and deliver winning capture approaches for both brand‑new program initiations and the growth of existing programs.
In this role, the selected candidate will:
- Conduct market, customer and competitor assessments to support ISD BU growth strategy
- Develop/manage the long-range opportunity pipeline to support the AOP/LRSP process
- Support/execute ISD BU VP customer engagements/cadence, working with Government Relations
- Support/execute program advocacy and protect efforts working with Government Relations
- Support ISD BU Operating Unit market-segment research, strategy development and captures
- Collaborate with Division/Sector BD counterparts on initiatives/actions to meet objectives
- Ensure BU opportunities flow through the tailored capture process; lead Business Acquisition Process activities
- Serve as a focal point for responding to Sector/Division strategy and business development actions with high-quality inputs reflecting the ISD BU business
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical area from an accredited university
- 7+ years of relevant experience in business development, strategy development, capture leadership and/or program management
- 4+ years of team leadership/management experience
- Active (in-scope) TS/SSBI OR TS/SCI DoD Clearance at the time of application.
- An understanding of U.S. Government requirements, budgeting, acquisition processes and organizations
- Experience executing defense industry business development processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Earned an advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a STEM discipline or Business.
- Previous work experience with aircraft or satellite RF systems, antennas, receivers, arrays
- Previous work experience with digital signal processing or electronic warfare
- Experience in business development, operations, program management, project management or government acquisition
- Experience with USG space mission areas, customer requirements development, program management and acquisition
- Strong understanding of USG customer community with established relevant relationships
- Proven track record of business growth with the DoD and Space Intelligence Community programs across a broad range of customers
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across business areas and industry teammates to accomplish strategic objectives for the mission area
- Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, deliver an extraordinary customer experience across our customer set, infusing strategic messaging into all elements of BU customer engagement
- Support Operating Unit capture teams to translate customer needs/desires into specific requirements, identifying/tailoring company capabilities and solutions into high value proposition offerings, and supporting captures to effectively market the operating unit's products and capabilities to meet those needs
- Experience leading and managing a multi-disciplined team

Primary Level Salary Range: $167,500.00 - $251,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
