The Role
Drive commercial growth of soil carbon solutions in the agrifood sector, build relationships, manage sales pipeline, and understand decarbonization needs.
Summary Generated by Built In
Join us in the global movement for climate action through data-driven soil carbon sequestration. Soils are the unsung hero in the fight against climate change. You will drive the commercial growth of soil carbon solutions and help shape how the agrifood industry tackles its biggest climate challenges.
Tasks
We're looking for a commercially minded, curious, and relationship-driven individual to lead our business development efforts in the agrifood sector. This is a sales and strategy role at its core; you'll be responsible for building and managing our sales pipeline, identifying new business opportunities, and developing a deep understanding of how soil carbon removals fit into the sustainability strategies of our clients. You will be joining our commercial team of five, where each person owns their distinct area — from product marketing and generating new business to customer success.
You don't need to arrive as a soil carbon expert — but you do need to be genuinely excited to learn the technical nuances of soil carbon quantification and MRV, and to translate that knowledge into compelling commercial conversations. You'll work closely with our technical and product teams to understand what we can offer, and with clients and prospects to understand what they need.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, enjoys the energy of conferences and industry events, and has the charisma and persistence to open doors and close deals in an emerging and fast-moving market.
Tasks
* Own and grow Seqana's commercial pipeline across the agrifood sector, from lead generation through to deal close
* Identify, qualify, and engage prospective clients — including agrifood corporates, project developers, and supply chain sustainability teams
* Develop a thorough understanding of clients' decarbonization needs and how soil carbon removals and insetting strategies can address them
* Represent Seqana at industry conferences, trade fairs, and networking events to build brand visibility and generate leads
* Collaborate with technical and product teams to shape proposals, scope projects, and ensure our offering meets client requirements
* Contribute to commercial strategy by feeding market intelligence, client feedback, and competitive insights back to the leadership team
* Support the development of sales materials, pitch decks, case studies, and other business development collateral
* Help refine and communicate Seqana's value proposition to different client segments within the agrifood value chain
Requirements
* 3 – 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or commercial roles — in agrifood, sustainability, climate tech, or related sectors
* An existing network of contacts in the agrifood or agricultural sustainability space
* Understanding of scope 3 emissions, insetting strategies, and supply chain decarbonization in the food and agriculture sector
* Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks such as SBTi FLAG, LSRS, GHG Protocol, or CSRD
* Strong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders
* Commercial instinct — you understand sales funnels, can prioritize opportunities, and know how to move deals forward
* Excitement about sales and outreach
* Willingness and intellectual curiosity to learn the complex technical fundamentals of soil carbon, MRV, and carbon crediting methodologies
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to distill complex topics for different audiences
* Comfort operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where priorities evolve and initiative is essential
* Fluency in English; additional European languages are a strong plus
What makes you stand out
* A degree in Business, Sustainability, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or a related field
* Direct experience with carbon markets, voluntary carbon standards (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard), or carbon credit project development
* Experience selling technical or data-driven products to enterprise clients
* Previous exposure to regenerative agriculture, soil health, or environmental monitoring
Benefits
* Be part of our highly motivated, committed, and international team with flat hierarchies that is working on solving one of societies' biggest challenges: Climate change
* Witness and shape the evolution of a new business being built
* Work at the intersection of commercial strategy and climate impact, with real influence on how the agrifood sector approaches soil carbon
* Collaborative culture with opportunities for continuous learning and professional growth, supported by a 500€ training budget
* Work in a casual environment with flexible hours and some ability to work from home
* Competitive salary, benefits, and compensation package
* Drinks, snacks, team events, and your choice of hardware
