Position Summary

The Business Development Intern will support Ocugen’s business development activities by assisting with research, analysis, and preparation of materials related to potential partnerships, licensing opportunities, and corporate development initiatives.

This role is designed to provide hands-on exposure to biotech business development while contributing to high-impact analytical and operational workstreams.


Responsibilities 

Business Development & Research Support

  • Conduct research on target companies, assets, and therapeutic areas relevant to Ocugen’s pipeline
  • Support tracking and organization of inbound opportunities and BD pipeline activity
  • Assist in summarizing key insights from research for internal use

Market & Competitive Intelligence

  • Perform market and competitive landscape research
  • Monitor industry news, transactions, and trends in gene therapy and ophthalmology
  • Compile findings into structured summaries and reports

Financial & Analytical Support

  • Assist with building and updating basic Excel models (e.g., market sizing, simple valuation inputs)
  • Support data gathering for financial and commercial analyses
  • Help organize assumptions and inputs used in business cases

Presentation & Materials Development

  • Support development of PowerPoint presentations for internal and external discussions
  • Assist in translating research and analysis into clear slides
  • Help prepare materials for BD meetings and partnering discussions

Cross-Functional Exposure

  • Collaborate with team members across Clinical, Regulatory, CMC, Commercial, and Finance to gather information
  • Participate in internal meetings to gain exposure to BD processes and decision-making
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in life sciences, business, finance, or a related field
  • Strong interest in biotech/pharma and business development
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions

This position operates in an office setting, in person. Job may additionally require incumbent to be available outside of these hours to handle priority business needs.
