Role Summary

ALX Africa is now looking for a motivated Business Development Intern to support the growth of the ALX Partner Network and Customer Base through lead generation, market research, and pipeline development. The intern will play a key role in identifying potential partners, building qualified prospect lists, and supporting outreach efforts that contribute directly to expanding strategic partnerships and revenue opportunities.

This role is ideal for someone interested in sales, partnerships, startup ecosystems, and strategic collaborations, and who wants hands-on exposure to how partnerships drive revenue and impact.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain structured lead databases with relevant decision-makers and contact information.
  • Conduct market mapping and identify organisations aligned with partnership opportunities.
  • Share insights from market research that can inform partnership strategy.
  • Support the partnerships manager in qualifying leads and building a partnership pipeline.
  • Draft introductory outreach emails and messages to prospective partners.
  • Follow up with leads and coordinate meetings with potential partners
  • Assist in preparing partnership proposals, pitch decks, and concept notes.
  • Track outreach activities and prepare background briefs before partnership meetings.
Skill Requirements - Essential
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to structure information clearly and maintain organized databases.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Skill Requirements - Preferable
  • Previous internship or experience in business development, sales, partnerships, consulting, or startup ecosystems.
  • Experience conducting market research or lead generation.
  • Exposure to national Upskilling and development initiatives, innovation programs, or startup ecosystems is a plus.
