Title and Summary
Business Development Director, Digital Acceptance (Indonesia)
Indonesia is one of Southeast Asia's largest and fastest-growing digital economies, creating significant opportunities to expand the use of secure and convenient electronic payments. The Director, Business Development, Digital Acceptance will build and manage long-term relationships with strategic digital players, acting as the lead commercial partner for relevant Mastercard opportunities across Indonesia's digital ecosystem. The role will shape and execute Mastercard's strategy across leading digital merchants, marketplaces, platforms, and payment partners to drive acceptance growth and commercial outcomes.
As the Business Development Director, Digital Acceptance, you will build long-term commercial partnerships, improve the end-to-end online card payment experience, and develop scalable initiatives that increase acceptance, usage, and transaction growth. Combining strategic relationship management with hands-on market development, you will identify barriers to growth and bring together Mastercard's payment capabilities, services, and insights to address them. This is a senior individual contributor role requiring strong commercial judgment, payments expertise, and the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Role
• Build and manage long-term relationships with strategic digital players, acting as the lead commercial partner for relevant Mastercard opportunities.• Develop and execute Mastercard's digital acceptance strategy across major digital merchants, marketplaces, platforms and payment partners in Indonesia. • Lead end-to-end engagement with strategic digital platforms, marketplaces and merchants to increase consumer and commercial card acceptance. • Identify barriers to online card-payment growth and translate market opportunities into clear partnership and market-development plans. • Create commercial propositions, partnership structures and transaction economics that increase card acceptance, usage and preference. • Improve the end-to-end online payment experience by working with merchants, issuers and acquirers to strengthen acceptance performance and approval rates. • Expand the adoption of Mastercard's services and capabilities, including merchant solutions, agentic, data insights, security and analytics. • Develop business cases and commercial models that support strategic partnerships, new use cases and investment decisions. • Collaborate with Product, Services, Marketing, Acceptance and Account Management teams to deliver integrated customer solutions. • Provide market intelligence and customer insights that inform product development, commercial strategy and future growth priorities. • Deliver against commercial, revenue and strategic objectives while maintaining strong ownership of execution and partner outcomes.
All About You
• Experience in business development, strategic partnerships or market development within payments, digital commerce or financial services. • Experience working with digital merchants, platforms, marketplaces, fintechs or other participants across the payments ecosystem. • Understanding of card payments, merchant acquiring, digital acceptance and e-commerce business models. • Experience owning commercial, revenue or P&L-related targets. • Track record of building strategic partnerships and driving transaction growth. • Ability to identify market opportunities and translate them into practical commercial strategies. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience developing business cases and commercial models. • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and navigate complex, cross-functional environments. • Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship management skills. • Entrepreneurial and results-driven approach with the ability to operate effectively in a senior individual-contributor role. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
