Position Summary: The Business Development Coordinator supports Workforce Development initiatives by engaging employers and industry partners to improve employment outcomes for job seekers of Goodwill of the Olympics and Rainier Region’s 15-county community. This role focuses on employer outreach, job placement coordination, program development and integrating employers into workforce training programs through hiring activities, classroom engagement, and program collaboration.

While the specific industries, programs, or populations served may change over time, the core responsibilities of employer engagement, job placement support, and cross‑functional collaboration remain consistent.

Hourly Rate: $24.11 - $26.20 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Business Development Coordinator performs the following functions, with specific activities evolving based on program needs, funding requirements, and labor market demand.

Employer & Industry Engagement

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, industry partners, workforce stakeholders, and community-based organizations.
  • Identify employer hiring needs and workforce trends to inform training alignment, placement strategies, and program development.
  • Serve as a liaison between employers, job seekers, trainers, career navigators, and program staff to ensure alignment with learning objectives and participant readiness.
  • Engage employers in program activities such as career talks, mock interviews, resume reviews, advisory roles, and candidate hiring/referrals.
  • Support employer-driven workforce solutions, including customized training, direct-from-training hiring, and hiring preference for Goodwill certifications.

Placement, Hiring & Outreach Coordination

  • Support job placement strategies that improve employment, retention, and advancement outcomes.
  • Coordinate and track job openings, candidate referrals, placements, and hiring outcomes.
  • Plan and support hiring activities including interview events, recruitment days, job fairs, employer site visits, and outreach events.
  • Represent Workforce Development and Vocational School programs at employer and community events.
  • Disseminate job opportunities through newsletters, email, phone alerts, social media, and other outreach channels.
  • Contribute to employer and participant success stories, events, and program highlights.

Data, Reporting & Program Collaboration

  • Track, document, and report employer engagement, job opportunities, placements, and outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records in required systems such as Caseworthy, Salesforce, G Suite, Microsoft Teams, and other platforms.
  • Use data, employer feedback, and labor market information to support continuous improvement of engagement and placement efforts.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and share relevant employer and labor market insights to support program planning and delivery.
Preferred Qualifications

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

  • Associates degree or 2-3 years of experience in workforce development, business-to-business services or customer service, with an emphasis on employer engagement 
  • Previous successful experience in job development, recruiting, and job retention services is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with various communities
  • Excellent public presentation, social/interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Well-organized and self-directed.
  • This position requires local travel, must have valid driver’s license and insured personal vehicle.
  • Exceptional analytical, judgment, decision-making and communications skills
  • Superior coaching, leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build understanding and consensus

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret hard data and metrics. Ability to write creatively and articulately with an emphasis on tact and diplomacy. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and average. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra when working on spreadsheets. Ability to create and manage event or initiative budgets.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and Microsoft Teams.

Other Skills and Abilities: Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of a Workforce Development Business Development Coordinator.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Washington State Driver’s License required

Other Qualifications: Self-motivated; resourceful, creative; high integrity; problem solver; looks to resolve issues; positive can-do approach; and ability to build effective working relationships.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear and type. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment ranges from loud to moderate.
